Mauraghar

Basic Information

Anatomy

Mauraghar are known as the hulking behemoth's of the demonic armies. While they are not the biggest, they are their largest sentient being which sports five massive legs with hooves almost akin to that of an elephant or a mammoth. They sport no tails though and their bodies are covered in scales almost like a great reptile. Even sporting sails on their backs with large plates of bones on their knees and the middle of their humanoid shaped upper bodies.   As if their gargantuan shapes didn't make it clear enough, their bodies are nearly sixty percent musclemass with a lot of fat as well between their thick hides and flesh. They sport double of most organs as well to keep their massive bodies working and have a total of three stomaches that allows them to eat most without getting poisoned or sick, even though they are not fully immune from neither.   Their arms are humanoid as well, resting close underneath their head and shoulders with normal but massive sizes, on the hands as well which sport five fingers that are nothing out of the norm. Their shoulders are also rather normal but exceptionally broad, with no neck but their massive heads resting directly on the upper body. Mauraghar don't sport horns like most demons do, rather having a massive head resembling a tusked raptor, though completely featherless.

Ecology and Habitats

Mauraghar absolutely hates the cold, even though their large hulls and amount of body fat makes them resistant to most but the coldest of weathers and blizzard storms. They much prefer the heat which they are purely immune too, as many of their kin are known to enjoy a good hot lava bath from time to time. For some reason, they also tend to eat this lava if there is nothing else on the menue. They are then, fully capable of storing the lava in one of their stomachs and use it either to pour lethaly hot and burning blood out of their wounds with, or just puke it up on their enemies.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Mauraghar don't just eat, they eat a lot and they need to eat very often. Considering they are in the eight circle of hell, this isn't too much of an issue as they are often in high ranked positions and due to their limited numbers they don't really need to care about any of their other kin needing nutrients, as there are often only a single Mauraghar for each army. Hence, their fodder mainly comes from dead opponents on the fields, though when they are not fighting, all the lower demons will need to make a good tribute of meat to them, lest they wish to become the tribute themselves.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Being not so smart with a ton of muscle and pure destructive force to back up their demands with, the Mauraghar only value strength, food and loyality to the Devils that ensure they get to fight, feed and command within their armies. Because of this, they have rather friendly relations to one another of their kin, considering one another just brothers in arms, or utensils perhaps, while all others almost even the Devil's included are beyond them, with the exception of the Archdevils that they widely regard as godlike.

Facial characteristics

Mauraghar are infamous for their hideous faces. Their jaws are raptorlike but spread far wider than the animals, with longer more protuding teeth and large lips, accompanied by a pair of massive tusks that stick out from their jaws. Their noses are flat and much resemble the snout of a pig's, though it is even larger with a tiny bit of droopy and combined with their small, ember glowing eyes they have the look of a proper freak, not even minding their ears that are just holes into their skulls.   The Mauraghar are also completely devoid of facial hair, rather having loose and hanging skin instead, or thicker protuding bones as their eyebrows. Their very foreheads are large enough that three men could stand on it and the only one at physical risk would be them becomming dinner. The top of their skulls are also decorated with small sails, of the same kind that runs down the back, next to their somewhat protuding spines.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

The Mauraghar can technically be found all over the hells, but prefer the warmth of Bhaelnarok to that of the rest of the realms. They also absolutely hate the frozen plane of Dargaroth as it is believed to be bad for their skin, which really doesn't matter as they already are hideous freaks of nature as it is. They can also be found within the mortal realms of Arcathia, on the rare occations. Mainly because most of their ilk serve as generals for the armies and tend to be the first boneheads to rush the frontlines in battle.

Average Intelligence

Mauraghar are beyond stupid but extremely brave, or rather their titanic sizes and hide like iron allows them to be reckless with much less the likelihood for consequences such as a normal sized person would meet. Still, a lot of them are educated and capable tacticians and generals that have been trained for hundereds of years to perfect their arts of warfare. Though they probably should not brag about their skills too much seeing as it has taken certain human nobles less than a year to achieve military success as well, in the rarer cases.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Though Mauraghar are complete powerhouses in terms of pure force, their senses are highly lacking. While they often have full control of their own bodymovement and know where to step, their balance is one of their great weaknesses that have been combated away by evolving their four legs.   Their sense of scent is also horrible, many completely lacking and being devoid of taste and smell, due to their diets of eating pretty much any bloody mess that they can find on the battlefield. Be it swallowing a mortal foe who thought they could stand a sliver of a chanse towards their massive foes, or sometimes even lesser demons if they're hungry. Hence, it's believed that they lost this sensation as an evolutionary trait to better gobble up whatever edible crap they come across.   Their hearing isn't something they should be proud over either, as they are always screaming so saliva flies in all manners of directions, due to how terrible it is. A majority of their numbers, technically pretty much every single one rather, have some form of hearing apparatus or magical communicatoin devices operated into their ears to ensure that they even have the possibility of listening to orders given.   At least their eyes are better than the norm though, as they are quite swift in detecting both movements and and signatures of life in their area. It is nothing super special but trumps that of an average humans. They are also perfectly capable of seeing in the dark, though they lack colour schemes for anything else than white, black, gray and shades of blood.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

With thanks to their low intellect, the Mauraghar names are just random warcries or actions of cruelty and carnage which they found cool to name themselves. No, there was no afterthought, no love and passion put into them, only pure cool factor which granted them names such as Thrallcrusher, Skulldrinker and Waaarbringah! Yes, it's not their name of you do not scream it on top of your lungs with the intent to brutally and pointlessly murder something small and cute while doing it.

Gender Ideals

Mauraghar do not have any gender ideals. Nor do they have beauty or courtship ideals either. They are all pretty much genderless constructs born from pure primal hunger and lust for carnage, thus they do possess more masculine features but can't be considered men either, as they completely lack the proper reproductive organs. In truth, nobody exactly knows how they reproduce but it is speculated that they are fully capable of self reproduction, though that is a long and costly process which would explain why there are so few of their kin.

History

The Mauraghar doesn't have too much of a history at all, they are one of the newer additions to the races of hell and is said to have been found on a distant world that came to be known as the eleventh part of hell, also known as the home to dragons. The Dragons and Mauraghar have been in a constant war with each others races, since from apparently the birth of both their peoples, which brought them to tear asunder their own lands into a flaming hellhole of sulfur and brimstone.   In the end, the Mauraghar won their war, though at a horrible cost as their world would need millions of years to be restored from the damages, with the dragon species fully exterminated as a race, untill the god Drâghanîr brought their race back to life within the lands of Arcathia.   Now with dragons back and viciously pissed for what happened to the broods, the Mauraghar have been brought into the fold of hell to ensure that it's armies don't get slaughtered from angry bewinged lizards from above, ridden by knife eared and slender women with magical bows and explosive arrows.

Average Physique
Even though Mauraghar have a massive amount of muscles, they are rarely shown due to their guts and bodyfat being in the way. Naturally, for their kin this fat is needed both as a resistance towards cuts, slashes and are even capable of absorbing bullets, arrows and bolts into it's jelly like substance while still ensuring that the wound remains closed and not leaking.   Mauraghar are also incredibly fast for their vast size. They can easily outrun, grab and eat a horse in two to three bites and if someone is ever chased by one of their kin, running is simply not an option as even if one where to manage to cower in a tree or house, they are more than able to smash through it with nothing but their own bodymass, without recieving as much as a dent back in return.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
These creatures come in most colours, with an exception of the metalic hues, pink, brown, gray and black. They normally don't have any tattoo's or markings, but mainly got the colour of green and red for the average skin, while the scales can be anything from blue to green to purple and other various manners of colour. Sometimes even a combination of a few, though those cases are rare seeing as beauty and Maraghar do not go hand in hand.
