Heavenwatch Colosseum

The beast stared at the robeclad men. It's three heads dripping saliva as it hungered. They were no fighters, mere sacrifices from the king that watched on with eagerness. His fat belly rumbling as he drank from his tankard, while the beast lunged in for the slaughter. The crowd cheering, then the king saw him look back with glistening eyes and a shit eating grin which fueled him with rage.   The king smashed his tankard into the armrest of his chair, as a man with the most flamboyant coat and missmatched clothes jamp from the rafters and down on the neck of the beast, as he'd slide down it's spine and tail.   The maniac soared through the sky and struck a somersault before landing with an extravagant bow to the king. A rose lingering between his teeth and a bards hat on his head, which he'd pluck into both his hands as the women of the crowd cheered with glee.   "Valence..." the king splurted out as he weaved his arms around in anger. "Kill him, kill him dumb beast!" He whined from the top of his lungs.   The robed men looked on in shock as a smirk spread on Valence's lips. "Appologies for stealin' the show." He said with dripping irony, while seeming oblivious that beast sized him up and had lunged it's three heads for his throat.   With a snap of his fingers the man was gone as teeth faced teeth. Now standing behind the beast, Valence struck a pose with the hat and rose, hat arm reaching out to the sky, with the rose surging a jolt of lightning which ventured through his body and blasted the beast with a force that nearly made it collapse.   The three-headed lion roared from the static, as two chakram seemed to magically pop into the existance where hat and rose should have had their place within Valence's palms. "Show time." he whispered, though it's echo could be heard clear and firm by the hysteric crowd as he danced and dodged. The weapons cleaving and slicing like a storm of blades as they carried on their tango of death.   The king's teeth shredded his nails, as he saw the inhuman man suddenly leap to run on the side of the walls, as simple as if life was some parody to him. His ears then shook, as his gaze befell on his love. His own wife, the very queen at his side was cheering on for the bardic god of extravagancy. Sweat now formed on his forehead, as he pushed himself out of the throne while his weak knees ran. He ran down those stairs towards the entrance with a speed he couldn't even believe himself to posses. His tongue screeching for help from the guard, though no voice of confirmation came as nothing but the cheering crowd and a violent crash echoed around him.   Valence cried out like a crazed cowboy as he smashed through the gates, one hand holding the beast by the mane, his legs swung around it's neck and his hat held aloft in the other palm. He was in full control of the creature as they took chase after the jogging king. His own guards just watching from the side and hollering out in a ringing laugh as the king tripped and his eyes faced thousands of salivating teeth. He turned into quivered, crying mess as the beast frothed all over him. Though he never felt the bite, as the pair remained still while knights in white steel soon arrived to clamp him up with iron and chains.

Purpose / Function

The arena serves as a public building that allows people to perform shows of sport and theater for crowds of several thousands. It's original purpose also included bloodsports between convicted criminals, monsters and beasts that fought to the death as punshiment for either their existance or crime. It was also a way for the poor to go to earn a living and name for themselves as brave and strong gladiators.

Alterations

The bloodsport was removed long ago as the modern faith of Peregon considered it animalstic and barbaric. Sin doesn't right sin and man should not enjoy watching their fellows, or any other creature suffer or die for their own thrills. The old gladiator games has since long ago been abolished by the church and the punishment factor replaced by forced service to knighthoods or armies underneath a fitting chapter. While the poor are yet allowed to fight for coin, glory and fame, battles to the death are strictly forbidden and accidental deaths follow intense investigations and legal consequences to all parts found guilty.

Architecture

The colosseum is built like a simple, extremely wide ring filled with levels of rows and seats. It has been built from the materials of concrete and limestone.

History

In it's bloody past, the arena used to be owned by an old king who loved watching the fights. Though as the bodies would pile and the grounds nearby flowed in blood, the churches of Dawnshire had enough of the cruelty. Though as they tried convincing him to stop with the madness, the king got bored and tossed the priests into the ring with a great threeheaded lion.   The show didn't last long though, as the slaughter of the priests suddenly turned into a great rodeo as some insane weirdo jamp from the crowd and caused all manners of distortion. In the end, he managed to fell both the beast and king, saving the priests and putting an end to the cruel, cruel games.   Now the arena is owned between three barons who bought the tile from Dawnshire land. Bathing in gold, they enjoy letting anyone with the money host tourneys and different events which ranges from archery to food eating contests to anything else which fit the arena. They even freely sponsor the members of the Knights Rotunda of Assemblage to have competitons between orders, all free for the commoners and peasants to watch. They also rebirthed gladiator fights by hosting their own competitions between their three factions, where the unfortunate could once again engage in combat sport.
