Knights Rotunda of Assemblage

Purpose / Function

The assemeblage exist to gather knights from all around the Peregonic realm and unite the different orders for threats against the kingdoms as a whole entity. Hence why it rests on the lower levels of the mountain closest to the four great cities.   It also serves to hold an annual meeting once every year to recap on different threats, problems and political movements which have afflicted Peregon during it's past years. Though, due to it's combined efforts to adress and deal with different issues to ensure the best interests for the common man, the hall is disliked by the nobility. Some houses even believe the assemblage of the orders threaten their reign.

Alterations

The round stone keep has had several drastic changes done during it's time. At the start, the assemblage started as a lodge with sixteen seats for the sixteen most influential peregonic families to meet over political affairs. From there it's been conquered twice by treachery and corruption from nobles, and once completely razed by a dragon.   It's also served as a congregation for villages surrounding the mountain, after it was rebuilt by old heroes and knights as a headquarter to deal with nearby pests and monsters. Though as many threats where exterminated from the range it slowly fell out of purpose.   It was only seriously reformed back into what would become the modern assembly, during the second hell crusade when each and every noble house, knightly order and even more illicit organizations felt a need to combine strength against the threat.

Architecture

The rotunda is nothing more than a boring keep built from gray stone. It's architecture is by no means special which is knowingly done for the building to serve little more than it's purpose. The interior would look exactly alike with the only special details being a chair specially made for each knightly orders representative with their banner behind them on the wall. Only the seat right infront of the single oaken doors entrance being an average chair with no banner. This due to being the governoring village elders seat as a neutral judge.   The table itself is a massive round map with a tactical board featuring a realistic shape of all the mountains, landscapes, political borders and knightly headquarters in Peregon. Underneath it is storaged different wood figures of knights, monsters and other chesslike pieces which allow the tactical representatives to play a massive game of stratege with existing resources against existing foes to plan their defences of the kingdoms.

History

The history of the assembly is at best a shaky one with too many tales, folk legends and myths around whomever formed it, or what it's original purpose was to even start bothering. Beyond it being used to form alliances, bonds between old noble houses and to adress world spanning issues, the most important and well known history comes from the second hell crusade.   It was then that the stone rotunda came to be, as knightly orders from all over the realm formed fourty different seats among noble houses, the mages guild, elven representatives and even a couple of pirate fleet admirals.   It is here that the first steps to invading and conquering realms of hell began and where where all of Peregon was united for the first time in it's history.   What easily could have turned into a tyranny underneath the boots of daemons turned out to become a three hundered years long golden age almost fully devoid of crime, poverty and suffering. Though if this really didn't exist back then, or was a phenomen that nobody complained since any alternative was far worse than their current existance, is still debated. The conquest of hell however, did ensure there was nowhere short of work and people laid old greviances to rest as they united against the common threat. At such ensuring Peregon even during the war both earned far more to the warspoils and had an increase in morale and literacy from young men and women wishing to join in the righteous fight.   So successfull had the Assembly been that, once hell shut close their gates most wished the assembly to stay in charge of things. A wish most knighthoods would gladly fullfill.   Those who were less happy about it, were the noble families that now saw the assembly as a threat to their influence. That a council with soldiers and peasants could undermine their current rule and risk drastic changes within the monarchy now that the war was over. The result was several orders funded or lead by the aristocratic houses to leave the assembly and found Highcourt in it's stead. An order which still functioned surprisingly well for everyone, where commoners needs were yet met and discussed, even though aristocracy ran the show.   Although a sensational success to all of mankind, noble bickering and powerplay eventually lead to Highcourt's current widespread corruption, while the assembly yet stands firm on noble feet. Though it has lost a majority of it's power and influence to the titan which yet is Highcourt.   Though some think Peregon's political climate looks bleak and the assembly having lost it's function to history, it yet serves the public as it always has. A handfull of knightly orders do still keep up the traditions for when Peregon eventually is threatened again, with funding and support from a few lesser noble houses, wealthy merchants and nearby villages that yet believe history may resurface it where Highcourt risks to crumble.
