Godwin Fisher

Godwin Fisher (20th March 1795 - 6th May 1864) was an Etorean priest who served between 1822 and 1864.
Fisher was born into a quaker family family in 1795 to parents George and Eleanor Fisher with two older and one younger brother and two younger sisters. He was privately tutored along with the rest of his siblings until aged 17 when he started studying to become a priest. It was around this time that he met his future wife Caroline. The pair were wed four years later at the church he worked at.
His first child was born three years after his marriage, six other children followed soon after. Although outwardly the family's life was good, Fisher was an alcoholic who regularly abused his wife and children. It was his alcoholism that also led to his unceremonial death in 1864.
