AB&R Standard Goods

The Adcock, Bäcker & Robertson "Standard Goods" were a class of 0-6-0 tender engines intended for goods work. They were built between 1865 and 1873 with various railway companies ordering engines to the design. In total 109 locomotives were built to the design, the company with the largest fleet of the locomotives was the Great Northern & Southern Railway with a total of 40 locomotives. The company with the smallest fleet was the South Eastern & Midland Railway who rebuilt their's as tank engines in 1902.
The class started to be scrapped after a North Western Junction Railway collided with a stationary train from Galloways Quarry. All 109 were withdrawn from mainline use by 1948, with the last being an ex - Redwick & Knightsbury Railway locomotive in use at the Ayers Colliery.
