The Forbidden undertook a terrible ritual that elevated them from adventurers to gods. The price of that ritual was paid by the world itself: a continent literally shattered and its climate became entirely unstable and unpredictable. Millions of people throughout the heartland of the Imperium Solis died in an instant, and many more would die over the coming months as a result of the changed climate or as victims of the roaming monstrosities.
