Only that the Khthonic giants, elves, dwarves, and humans almost immediately banded together prevented the complete conquest of Khthon. Even then it took centuries to finally break the back of the infernal kingdom.

In the high point and nominal end of formal hostilities between the Star Elves and the successor states of the Great Dwarven Empire, the greatest dwarven keep outside Eobesh is stormed and its defenders killed to a dwarf. Among them was the last of the master smiths; the dwarves are no longer capable of producing an heir to the Throne of the Living Ancestor.
