Sword of Morsyana

The Sword of Morsyana is a greatsword that was crafted in the Furnace Mountains by the legendary orc blacksmith Mocfon at the demand of Morsyana. Before he died, the orc spoke out a curse, stating that Morsyana herself would die at the hands of the sword. The sword was lost for many years, but was retrieved by the Uktar psionicist Pad'Lai in 904 LC.

History

The Sword of Morsyana was crafted in the Furnace Mountains for Morsyana. The sword, that was made of Red Rock Steel and blue zholtan, was created by the legendary orc blacksmith Mocfon in 14 LC. Despite its high craftsmanship, Morsyana never used the sword, as it had been cursed by the blacksmith himself.   Morsyana contacted Mocfon in 12 LC, but the orc initially refused to help Morsyana as he did not want to be part of the War of the Sisters. Enraged, Morsyana had Mocron's newborn twin sons kidnapped and brought them to Prydisyrr, threatening Mocfon that they would be killed if he did not comply. The orc did as she asked and spent the next two years perfecting the sword to each and every of Morsyana's demand.   When she was finally happy with the result, Mocfon demanded to see his sons, but Morsyana refused, stating that she had different plans with the twins and laughed as she commanded her men to beat Mocfon to death. Before he died, the orc spoke out a curse, stating that Morsyana herself would die at the hands of the sword.   And indeed, merely practicing with the sword made the Queen fear the new weapon. She ordered it destroyed, but none of of her men, whether fighter, wizard or blacksmith, succeeded in even denting it. And so she ordered it sent away, to the island of Om.   The ship carrying the sword unfortunately met its demise on sea, and the cargo was presumed lost for eternity. The sword, however, made its way to the shores of the Porcupine Mountains in 577 LC. There, its quality was recognized by the dwarves. Exagir Bardor, a dwarven hero and fighter, took the sword with him on an expedition to an ancient tomb, but lost his life there. Only in 860 LC did a dwarven archaeologist by the name of Gintrok Bordirun excavate the tomb, returning the sword to The Porcupine. Bordirūn, however, quickly realized the sword's historical significance and took it to send it to the Kandiran Vault in Lloridan for safekeeping, where it was held within a Dragon Box.   In 904 LC, as the army of the Labarean Empire had entered Lloridan, the sword was retrieved from the vault by Pad'Lai, a psionicist who had bought the rights to the sword from Bordirūn. Pad'Lai had to do so illegally, as the Labareans no longer allow clients to retrieve magic items from the vault. The reason why Pad'Lai wanted the sword was that he knew Morsyana had risen again in the World Beneath, plaguing the mindspace to which Pad'Lai people's were attuned.
