Gleyarnae Settlement in Keverynn | World Anvil

Gleyarnae (gle-yarn-eh)

Demographics

The only people who live here are siathi, though they have the occasional visitor from the provinces. Most visitors are dragonriders, though the occasional wolfling from the Elnnwood settlement comes by.

Government

The individuals known as the keturi  are in charge. The highest ranking of those five is the Master of the Obsidian Tower

Districts

There are five towers that comprise Gleyarnae: obsidian, pearl, amethyst, jade, and marble. In the siathi language, the towers are called: Jade - Zoduos Amethyst - Lilme Obsidian - Questos Pearl - Lictra Marble - Moaros   Master of these towers are given the title of Keturi as opposed to reulinn used by other tower masters, including the queen.

History

The first of the five towers was raised up in 173, with the other four following soon after. The Pearl Tower was the last one. It was raised out of the lake in 175. Kathraal was appointed as the first Master of the Obsidian Tower.   Variatha was the first Master of the Pearl Tower. She began the tradition of taking on a usename.

Points of interest

One could make the argument that Gleyarnae itself is a point of interest.

Tourism

No one goes here unless they either have business with one of the keturi or are in their employ.

Architecture

While the towers across Salcreria all vary in their architecture, the Gleyarnae's tower are identical save for their colouration and material. They are tall spires capped by large, hollow spheres. The keturi traditionally have their personal quarters inside that sphere, though some have chosen to live further down the tower.   The interiors of the towers all have the same layout, although the decorations vary.

Geography

The towers rise up out of Viarsecan Geui, the massive lake at the heart of Salcreria.   The lake water is crystal clear and free of animals or plant life. It's possible to swim down to the bottom of the lake to where the bases of the towers themselves are and still see clearly. The bottom of the lake is covered in a hard packed layer of sand with shiny rocks poking through it as you approach base of one of the towers. The towers themselves appear to be sprouting out of the lake bed.
