Shrine of Concord
Adjacent to the village green, a humble small stone building with stone walls and a wooden roof is situated around a small stone statue of a featureless woman wrapped in garlands of white flowers. Despite is weathered appearance, the statue seems lovingly maintained and is free of moss and dirt. Small offerings of flowers, coins, and food are scattered around the base of the statute's pedestal.
Past the statue, a doorway opens to the small interior quarters of the shrine. A simple bed sits in the corner, the sheets precisely folded. A set of plain garments lies folded neatly on a simple dresser, while two more bed frames sit along the other wall, missing sheets. An elderly woman clad in austere looking robes and wearing a long white smock quietly sweeps dirt from the floors outside.
Purpose / Function
The Shrine of Concord was built in Barrelhaven to provide local worshippers of Concord a place to practice their faith. It also functions as Garaele's home, from which she distributes charity based on the donations and offerings given to the shrine. Finally, the shrine serves as the town's de-facto medical clinic, as Garaele is one of the only experienced healers in town.
Alterations
Little has been changed in the design for the Shrine of Concord since it was first built almost a century ago. It seems to have been touched up recently (in the last decade or so) with a fresh coat of paint and a roof repair, but otherwise the shrine looks much the same as it did when it was first built. While the stone statue of Concord should be encrusted with moss or lichen after so many years outdoors, the statue is clearly lovingly maintained and cared for.
Architecture
The Shrine is a a small, one story tall building constructed out of wood and stone facing onto the main village green.
Defenses
The shine has no effective defenses to speak of. While the first floor of the shrine is enclosed in stone walls about half a foot thick, these walls have large curtained windows which can be easily broken through to gain access to the interior. The door itself features no lock, but a wooden bar.
History
The Shrine of Concord has grown in importance over the years through Garaele's careful stewardship of it.
Tourism
While not officially a member of the twelve, the worship of Concord is tolerated and widespread throughout the Duchy of Whiteport, and shrines to her worship have cropped up in most major cities and even small villages like Steppehaven. Visitors to the shrine include not only the specific devotees of Concord, who may visit to offer prayers for peace and mercy and leave small offerings, but also townsfolk seeking her guidance and blessings. Feuding siblings or spouses may visit the shrine to seek mediation, the local needy may fall back on the charity of the Shrine to support themselves in times of hardship, or particularly poor travelers may claim Concord's mercy and take refuge there. Finally, visitors may come to the Shrine seeking medical attention or Garaele's help, as Garaele is one of the few qualified healers and midwives in town.
