Vrakka Khazdural
Vrakka Khazdural (née Stonefury) was born into the Stonefury Clan, a proud and battle-hardened lineage of Stormhold, known for producing warriors, smiths, and tacticians of great renown. From an early age, she was trained in the ways of war, rising through the ranks of the Stoneguard, Stormhold’s elite defenders, where she earned a reputation for both her uncompromising discipline and unyielding resolve in battle. Unlike many of her kin who sought glory on the battlefield, Vrakka fought not for acclaim, but because she believed a strong arm and a sharp blade were the only true guarantees of survival in a world that showed dwarves no mercy.
It was after the fall of Karak Dûr in 17 AV, when the remnants of the Khazdural Clan arrived in Stormhold, that Vrakka first met Hrothgar Khazdural. A wounded, grief-stricken warrior, he bore the weight of his people’s failure like a cloak of iron, his body scarred and his will hardened by loss. Where others saw a broken leader grasping at the past, Vrakka saw a warrior who refused to let his people fade into obscurity. Their bond was not one of youthful passion but of mutual understanding—two battle-worn souls who knew that survival came not from clinging to the past, but from forging ahead despite the wounds left behind. Over the years, their respect grew into something deeper, and when Hrothgar spoke of reclaiming his home, of taking back Karak Dûr, she did not scoff as others did. She simply asked when he planned to start.
Though she is not a ruler by title, Vrakka became an anchor for the Khazdural remnants, keeping them together when Hrothgar’s obsession with reclaiming their lost home threatened to drive them apart. Time has left its mark on her as it has on him—her once-dark hair is streaked with silver, woven into thick braids bound with iron clasps bearing the sigil of the Khazdural Clan. Her face, though lined with age, still holds the unyielding presence of a warrior, her storm-gray eyes as sharp as ever. Though she no longer wields an axe in battle, it is never far from reach, for Vrakka is a woman who has known loss, and she knows better than to believe peace is ever permanent. She respects Hrothgar’s dream of reclaiming Karak Dûr, but unlike her husband, she does not let the past blind her to the present—her concern is for their people, not their tomb.
