Pieti

Cresting the hill and seeing the City in the Spires for the first time was breathtaking. The rocks rose hundreds of feet above me, buildings cleverly nested in, and a low singing of the spires... truly Pieti is a city blessed by a god.

Demographics

Around 250 of the residents are members of the temple, and another 50 are mages. The races are all well represented here, though most of the people native to the area are humans and dragonborn.

Government

Both the temple and the mages think that they are the leaders of the city, leading to a great degree of tension between them. The everyday workers of the city seem content to live and work. The temple guard keeps the peace, usually in advance of it actually being breached.   Sevti is the only goddess with a temple in the city, which is ruled by The Oracle – chosen by the Council of Seers he rules for 10 years. Any devotee of Sevti with the Sight may join the Seers but must give up their ability to be the Oracle, so it is mostly those who have foretold their own deaths within the next Oracle Phase. Much politicking is involved in making the seers like you. The Temple recruits from all of the continent, and acolytes are expected to travel as a part of their study.

Defences

Pieti has no standing military, although when The Oracle forsees an invasion, they use the large temple coffers to hire mercenaries, which when combined with the large permanent mage population, makes this city a poor military target

Industry & Trade

The majority of travelers come to Pieti for its religious and magical exports – knowing the future can be very valuable. The region also supports quite a few farmers, who grow corn, a variety of vegetables, fruits, and olives and raise goats and chickens. Exports include Oils, goat cheese, fruits, linen, magic and fortunes

Guilds and Factions

The Mage's Guild Temple of Sevti

Architecture

The buildings are short but elegant, usually trying to accent the spires they are close to. Its a small city, so there aren't many large buildings, but 2 stand out – the Temple of Sevti and the Mage's Guild, which has recently been partially blown up

Geography

The spires rise from a hilly plain, ranging between 50 and 500 feet tall.
