UAG Office of Colonization

Life was pretty rough for the first colonists on Kataan, but that didn't stop the Office of Colonization from advertising it like it was paradise so they could recruit more workers.
Raan: "I'm telling you, you're crazy if you don't apply for this new colony with me. Look at these pictures!"
Turk: "I don't know. They don't pay much, and you have to live underground because it rains all the time."
Raan: "But you're forgetting about all the perks. They give you a great place to live, rent free. We could even be roomies. And free food! Look at these gardens. They grow stuff from all over the galaxy, and you can have as much as you want. It's a freaking paradise!"
Turk: "You know, it's been my experience that when something looks too good to be true, it usually is."

DEPARTMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Office of Colonization is the department of the UAG that oversees all of Taanruk's colony worlds. The governors of all the manufacturing colonies report to this office. They are responsible for the construction and maintenance of the colonies' infrastructure. They coordinate supply requests and product distribution as well as the payroll for UAG workers. They are also in charge of creating advertising campaigns to recruit workers for the colonies, and they are not above stretching the truth to make sure that each colony is fully staffed.

For the longest time, Turk kept wondering if he had made a mistake by not going to Kataan, but then, one day, he got this message from Raan:
"Holy crap, you were right! This place is a nightmare! It hasn't stopped raining since I got here, and I’m not talking a little drizzle. It's a freaking monsoon all the time. And those gardens. They’ve been destroyed by a bunch of nasty little lizard things with teeth and claws. They call them shrieking grounders, and they're everywhere. They're ripping the whole damn place apart. Everything has to be rebuilt. I'm starving and exhausted, and now they're telling us our allotment has been delayed again, so I can't even afford to get out of here. There's supposed to be some glitch in the financial program, but I'm not buying it. I don't suppose there's any chance you could get me a ticket on the next freighter home? I swear I'll pay you back somehow."
