The Dwarfen Culture of Lóng Huǒ

Not much is known about the dwarfs and their culture. But what is known is that they are small, have long black well-groomed hair and wear silky clothes which come in various colours from lush emerald green over a deep sapphire blue to fiery red. They worship the dragons even though nobody has seen one for thousands of year. Similar to the Andric Empire, which believes that the emperor is related to a phoenix, the dwarfs believe that their Huángdi (emperor) descended from dragons. Not many dwarfs are sighted outside of their homeland in the thorny peaks, the largest above-ground settlement is Centavault, which is currently a hotspot for heated political conflicts since both the empire and the dwarfs claim this township for themselves.   Their wealth mostly comes from the mining operations in which they surface gemstones, gold and various other valuable metals. The commoners of them eat a lot of mushrooms and the richer folk can either afford to import meat from the upper world or get meat from the underground piglet farms. The pigs they use for breeding is a special race which adapted to live near the surface level. Still, it is very hard to be a pig farmer underground for the place is limited. The government taxes farmland highly and that is why meat is very expensive. One of the most famous dwarfen meals which made it to the upper world is the Dragonfire Pot.   The dwarfs of Lóng Huǒ try to expand their lands to the upper world a bit more since their cities in the mountain range have become too small. Approximations believe that there are about 250 000 to 300 000 dwarfs in the mountain and likely another 100 000 dwarfs above ground in the mountain range. Recent earthquakes in the Thorny Peaks seem to set a wave of refugees free, what caused those earthquakes is yet unknown. Some of the Lóng Huǒ Monks believe it could be the return of a dragon, some dwarfen engineers believe that they have dug too much and the mountain is about to collapse and others again believe it could be the work of stone giants, their sworn enemy.   The ruling Huángdi is young and merely a puppet to his court which cant decide on how to act, the dwarfen folk is in desperate need of guidance and the government is not able to act. In the streets, the word is out about a rebellion against the court and there were several arrests and executions of people brand marked as traitors. Yet the court is not able to extinguish the amber of this rebellious behaviour, on the other hand, most people are bound by their tradition and don't even dare to break those.   One of their most important holidays is the Day of the Dragon, where the light up the darkness in every corner of their kingdom with lampions and send wishes down the underwater rivers and streams. This particular holiday is also always on the birthday of the ruling Huángdi. In Honor of this day, every citizen makes their way to the temples of the Three Dragons, which is the Dragon of Water Lóng Shuǐ, the Dragon of Stone Lóng Shí and the Dragon of Fire Lóng Huǒ. Also, there is the Festival of Souls where the dwarfs honour their deads, this is a way to tell them things you couldn't tell in life. The Festival of Souls is a holiday that is celebrated only with family, of course, the more important the family is the more relatives will come and celebrate.
