Avolen
Situated in the last temperate area so far north in Kalin, Avolen is the capital of Aurelia and a testament to the independent spirit of the Aurelians. It's tall walls and strong stone construction defy invasion as much as the elements.
It is from here that the Queen of Aurelia, Zelena Stellings, rules her land with a wise if sometimes heavy-handed hand.
The city was attacked during Year of the Dragon during the now famous Battle of Avolen, but has largely rebuilt since then.
Demographics
Avolen is sometimes seen as the last bastion of Civilization before heading into the frozen and hard north. As a result many explorers and caravans stop in Avolen to supply or trade their wares. The city is standard with blacksmiths, bankers, craftsmen, and more. 87% Human, 4% Norse, 3% Olark, 2% Dwarf, 1% Drow, 3% other.
Government
Avolen and Aurelia are ruled by the King or Queen of Aurelia, a hereditary monarchical title.
Defences
Avolen is defend by its tall walls, moat, and strong army. Aurelia spares no expense when it calls on its lords to defend its lands, and the lords spare no expense getting their men ready for war. Aurelia has remained free of Fallen City occupation and influence, and they will stay that way.
Industry & Trade
Aurelian's are a self sustaining people, so they trade anything from minerals to food with local kingdoms and cities for surplus gold and goods.
Architecture
Aurelian architecture is distinctly human in nature, with stone and wood making up most of the materials and large tall buildings being common.
Geography
The area around Avolen is just barely temperate. With summers, springs and autumns allowing for growth, but winters can be harsh.
Natural Resources
Aurelia wants for nothing, its southern farms keep it fed, its lumber-mills provide it wood, its mines provide it mineral wealth.
