Queen of Inglaand Ellen de Bans

Queen of Inglaand Ellen de Bans (a.k.a. The Querran Queen)

The Querran Queen of Inglaand, Ellen de Bans is not Inglish, and its no secret. She may not fit in with King George V's court of squabbling, bickering nobles, but that may be because she is kind, intelligent, and sympathetic to the people of her new Kingdom...

Personal history

Hailing from Querra, the fiercely independent City-state, Ellen was raised to let the scientific method reign. She was taught from a young age how to analyze problems and how to think critically.   Her mother dying at childbirth, Ellen grew up in a household with her father gone much of the time to do his civic duties, and her brother being a fine diplomat deployed to other kingdoms. Facing this loss but compensated by true friends, like Clare Waters, Ellen still wondered about her mother - how she acted, whether she was anything like her, if she would be proud... In this respect, Ellen did her best to make her world a better place everywhere she went.   After her 6th birthday she was groomed to become a princess - a diplomatic weapon should Querra ever need it. However, this was not her Father's idea and he also pushed her to continue her studies as a scholar as well. While this was a Chaosian ideal, Clare was always against the thought of using anyone as a diplomatic weapon, but she was not the Chaosian leader at the time.   Shortly after Ellen became of age, Inglaand threatened to annex Querra.   A deal was made that sealed Ellen's fate forever in 15 BPA: Ellen de Bans became King George V's Queen.   As a young bride, Queen Ellen held little influence in the King's Court. She learned all she could about the King's affairs, and the King quickly fell in love with her. Although the two were arranged under a dire circumstance, Ellen tried not to take this personally, especially since .   In her city, women were at least used for specific roles. In Inglaand, however, Ellen was considered little more than a means to peace and although she had the love and respect of King George, she held no power in his court and could barely influence the happenings of the Court and was only allowed in discussions of State if the King was also present.   Creating many humanitarian efforts to aid those in need, Ellen became incredibly popular among the people, using the little power she had to paint the Crown in a good light with the more common subjects. Her generous spirit and kind nature endeared her to many in the empire, and although she still held no power, her friendships to those people would go on to help her for years to come.   Upon the kidnapping of her daughter, Herma, Ellen used every tool at her disposal to find her. After exhausting all of the conventional means and with King George using the Army and his men to search, it was then that Ellen called for a champion. Of course, those looking to prove themselves weren't about to throw in with a Queen with no power, and those that had the experience were already spoken for by George. That's when Ellen released a new call to arms; one for the common folk.   It was shortly thereafter that her call was answered by four unlikely travelers Issac Miller, Jackson Addler, Junior Adler, and Doctor Stone. They found the girl and saved the day, however, King George was suspicious of their timing and ordered them killed.   Ellen, upon seeing a Writ from Isaac implicating foul play, helped the group escape Lond and flee George's wrath, provided they gather evidence of innocence.   After this, Ellen was aided again by these men, along with Lance Mayr and Captain Solomon Quill to uproot the corrupt Baron of Gotha and prove he was the one who kidnapped her daughter.   It was about six months later that King George died, and she was forced to move to the next chapter of her life...     Raising an army against the usurper, William of Bartlow, was not easy. Her Champions, who would become known as The Lost Souls, would have to find an ancient pirate treasure, convince an entire town to accept her, and fight tooth and nail to make her respected at the Rightful Ruler of Inglaand...

Mental Trauma

Being much younger than her half-brother, Garrett de Bans, Ellen has always felt a bit out of place. Neither her nor Garrett knew their mothers, with Garrett's leaving shortly after his birth and Ellen's dying at her own. This affected Ellen deeply, making her a bit anxious at times, even depressive. Ellen fights with feelings of self-doubt, and hates that she is constantly viewed as a means to something else.   This is usually why she strives so hard to do the most good - she wishes to be more than a vessel for something else. It is because of her darkened start in this world that she insists on bringing as much goodness into it. Even if that means going against the status quo or in the face of people more powerful than her. Fortunately for Ellen, Clare Waters has been there like an aunt figure in more times than she can count, and the two share an inseparable bond. This has gotten Ellen out of trouble with powerful foes in the past and continues to be a friendship worthy of repute.

Intellectual Characteristics

Incredibly intelligent, but always tempered with her overwhelming goodness.
