Jackson Addler

Jackson is a soldier. Its his life. Its all he's known.   When Jackson was a young boy growing up in _________ (pick a state, remember we started in California), he had many hobbies. He liked to _________ (Skateboard? Play Call of Duty? Be in a band? Collect gems and rocks? Learn? Give me at least 3, and 2 not from this list).   As a child, Jackson had a ________ (School bully, crush, best friend) named ________. He and _______ spent a lot of time together because ________ (they liked playing the same games, the bully wanted his lunch money, they were in the same class, he thought she was cute).   Jackson's parents were _______ (Teachers, farmers, in the military, not around much, loving/kind/nurturing, strict, chaotic, drug dealers... again, you get the point). Jackson always thought that this made life hard because _______ (They smothered him, he wondered if they loved him, they were always at his school, he was always in trouble, etc.)   Once boyhood was over for Jackson and he entered High School, he learned that (the person) had left, and that he would likely never see them again. This made Jackson _______ (Relieved if it was a bully, heartbroken if it was a crush - you get the idea). But then the day came that his parents _______ (Almost died, got another job, divorced, etc.). This was especially hard on Jackson, but as fate would have it, this event caused him to meet his future wife, Jessica because ________ (You're smarter than you look - you can come up with something cool. Think of movies and TV shows. I don't care if you rip something off. We'll distill it down later and make it unique).   At the end of High School Jackson had made a decision to join the Army, much to Jessica's dismay. Promising he'd be back for her and that they'd have a better life, he married her and went off to training. He did two tours - 4 years of his life. He became and Army Ranger. He watched friends die, comrades go dark, and men do horrible things. It was then that he realized the truth of the old saying "War is Hell". He ________ (Come up with a war story), all the while thinking of Jessica - and getting back home to her.   Back at home, Jessica was pregnant then lost the baby... This was a dark time for her and Jackson, and he was able to take some time off and be at her side.   That's when the real war began. Shortly after his return did they find Jessica's cancer. It was located _______ (Lots of different types of cancer - make it interesting!). They tried everything and Jackson fought harder than he ever had in his life. He __________ (spent all his money, found the best doctors, stood by her side every step of the way - think about it and finish the story)   ...and just when they thought they had it beat... The beeping of the machines stopped. Sound faded out as Jackson fell to his knees - he fought so hard for so long to have some semblance of happiness and before he could even try... it was torn from him, like ripping flesh from bone. Jackson was broken. He felt ________ (I started it... you got this!)     For a time, Jackson was _______ (Depressed, angry, obsessed, in denial, out of it, in psychiatric care (it could be fun), heartbroken, physically sick, etc), but he eventually he was able to pick himself up, with help from his cousin.   It was his cousin that suggested they go to the support group. After just a few visits Jackson realized this was the new normal - a daily fight. But he was a soldier. It was his life. It was all he knew.   Little did Jackson truly know that this visit to the support group would be his last - for reasons more peculiar and strange than Jackson would know for some time. Maybe the cosmos wanted to torture him. Maybe he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.   Or maybe...   Just maybe...   He was CHOSEN.

Army Veteran trying to get back home to the last memory of his dead wife.
