Bryn Shander
Encompassed by a large circular wooden wall, Bryn Shander stands firm against the Ice Winds of The Frozen North.
Demographics
While the town of Bryn Shander is mostly Human, there is a sizable Dwarf population, due to it's proximity to The Dwarven Valley. Finding individuals of other races, while few and far between, is most common in Bryn Shander compared to other towns in The Frozen North.
Government
The governing body of Bryn Shander is it's Town Speaker, whom contributes to The Speaker's Council.
Defences
Bryn Shander has a large circular wall that encompasses the entire town, protecting it not only from invasion at the hands of marauders, but cutting the biting Ice Winds that are signature of The Frozen North.
Industry & Trade
Bryn Shander has the most trade by far of any of the towns in The Frozen North, due to being the main route south to The Kagan Highlands, as well as being the most traveled town. Most of its exports consist of Knucklehead Trout and Scrimshaw, while its imports are numerous such as textiles, lumber, food, pottery, and other basic goods not available in The Frozen North.
Infrastructure
Due to its remote location and lack of mines, most of the roads and alleys in Bryn Shander are either dirt or gravel. The few paved roads or stone buildings in the town are usually made of stone from The Dwarven Valley, the ground around Bryn Shander being too frozen most of the year to mine in.
Assets
Most of Bryn Shander's shops carry mostly all manners of basic goods, the necessities imported from the south to make life in The Frozen North possible.
History
Bryn Shander was developed as an early colony of The Imperial Commonwealth of Emyr, as part of the Re-expansion Doctrine. The settlement was to improve relations with the neighboring Dwarves of The Dwarven Valley. While the relations were a success, Bryn Shander's hostile environment and location proved to be logistically impossible for The Imperial Commonwealth of Emyr to maintain, causing many of the citizens to become discontent with the Empire's rule. Years later, Bryn Shander (and the rest of Ten Towns) declared it's peaceful secession from The Imperial Commonwealth of Emyr with the Northern Declaration of Exodus. It remains independent to this day.
Architecture
Most of Bryn Shander's oldest buildings such as The Speaker's Palace are in classical Emyrian Colonial style. The newer buildings, due to the lack of natural resources, are usually converted storehouses or farmsteads. Utility is the focus of design in Bryn Shander.
Geography
Bryn Shander is surrounded by open tundra, save for a few pockets of pine trees. If it were not for the wall surrounding the town, Bryn Shander would suffer heavily from Ice Winds that batter their way through the area.
