Regenerative Corruption Cure

When a Kalka'shar regenerates, the corrupted, used-up healing energy is expelled from their body in the form of smoke -- which, if come into contact with, leads to withering and draining of a person's lifeforce. This was largely considered irreversible until a cure was discovered.

Discovery

The cure for regenerative corruption was discovered in an act of desperation. When a Kalka'shar woke from death to see their lifemate withered and corrupted, lifeless beside them, they panicked. In their desperation, they did what none had tried before -- sacrificed their own life energy. The action made easier by their recent death, they poured their life and soul into their mate, slowly withering themselves as their mate regained the colour and texture to their skin, and woke them from death.   Enchanters and healers heard of this miracle. Over time, tests and research were conducted and conclusions were drawn -- a piece of their own life could be used to heal the wither of others. Enchanters would use a small piece of their life imbibed with healing energy, using jewellery and clothing to carry this gift and heal the corruption in a more controlled, steady manner requiring less of a sacrifice.

Complexity

While the physical component of the cure can be anything, the complexity comes from the power required to cast it. Small corruptions can be healed with relative ease, only requiring a small piece of the Enchanter's life to grant a steady recovery, but greater injuries require greater sacrifice to heal -- to the point where if the injury is great enough, many will refuse to heal it.   Some Enchanters and healers may choose to create cure items in advance, usually if they have no other clients or are expecting a large number of casualties. This enables them to recover their lifeforce without having to sacrifice it all at once. Manufacturers of cure items tend to work exclusively in this role, setting up Healer's Respites to provide for any who come by in need.
