Cave palace
In the cliffs surrounding the Secret Dragon Valley is a palace of caves. This is where Varvaara lives and has brought up her three boys. It has mutliple floors and is full of treasure which was given to The Dragon Monarchy as tribute by the human population when they ruled.
A sandy path winds its way between boulders from the valley floor up into the cliffs. The doorway to the outside is a wide crevice in the rock with a flattened floor. Above the door and window holes into the cave system is a ledge, hiding them from view. They are all designed to look almost natural, with ragged edges just wider and closer together than normal. This leads into a short corridor with an opening into the main living area, as well as steps to the higher levels.
The main room is where they spend most of the time inside. It is large and airy, with tapestries of Soovi covering the walls. Large cracks in the stone provide natural light, as well as a view across the valley. It is a comfortable room with seats, a table, and rugs on the floor. In one corner a series of chests serve as a food preparation area.
Beyond that, deeper into the caves are a series of tunnels. These lead to rooms for each of the people who live there, storage areas full of trunks and chests, and many that are unexplored. They are lit by balls of glowing fire on special ledges in the rock walls.
The bedrooms are cosy with either ledges cut out of the rock to sleep on, or simple wooden framed beds. Both are piled with furs and blankets.
Store rooms hold more of the tribute from the time of the Dragon Monarchy. Large wooden chests made from dark wood, carved with images of dragons and people in different poses. Inside are piles of clothes from different eras, more furs, leather jerkins, velvet dresses and cases of gold and jewels.
The highest level contains a columned room where The Dragon Monarchy used to gather as a family. This main hall is hardly used now and remains empty. Though the three brothers use it to play hunter and prey when the weather outside isn't good for flying.
Below that is a library, full of books and with its own windows looking out across the valley. It is a comfortable place, much beloved of Varvaara when she was younger. Bookshelves cover the interior walls and the floor is covered with large cushions and rugs.
