Dr. Bruce K. Wendall
Dr. Bruce Wendall is the research scientist that is most known for his role in the IFERA project. He is also primarily credited with inventing a mathematical approach that allows artificial intelligence systems to recognize context from the environment, which led to the success of the IFERA AI.
Education
Dr. Wendall attended university at Ryrabar University in Cargia, Shinsay, where he studied under Dr. Alan Ross. He completed a thesis on “Analytical Methods for Representing Context in Learning Systems,” and received a doctorate in Mathematics.Accomplishments & Achievements
After completing his studies, Dr. Wendall became a research scientist at the Gromont Research Institute, where he was able to apply his theoretical work to the development of the IFERA prototype. He continued working at the Institute, improving the IFERA system until his retirement at age 55. Following IFERA's prediction of the supervolcano event that would lead to the Disaster, Dr. Wendall came out of retirement to found Library of IFERA. This organization dedicated itself to preserving Kaiterian knowledge in IFERA. The hope was that even if civilization collapsed following the Disaster, IFERA could act as an ark of all knowledge about the world for future generations. Dr. Wendall and his family survived the Collapse. He continued to lead the Libray of IFERA and helped to found Sanctuary, ten years after the Collapse. He passed away from heart failure at the age of 89, 15 years after the Collapse.Social
Family Ties
Dr. Wendall's father was Brian Wendall, an industrial engineer for Larion corporation. His mother, Diane Perry-Wendall, was a talented graphic artist who specialized in designing visual ways of exploring geometry and space in new perspectives. He had two siblings, a sister, Kara, and a brother, Jules.
When he was 31, he married his wife, Kirsten Smithison, and together they had three children, Catharine, Ryan, and Robert.
