Jayne Keep

A small keep and town in Tyaldi owned by Lord Jayce
The town grew up as a settlement around the keep when the keep was a small outpost. The town continues to be known by the name of the Keep that defines it, and locally "Jayne Keep" refers to the settlement and "The Keep" is the actual fortification. The town is built on steep slopes leading up to the Keep and the streets are narrow and often cut into steps to make transit easier. The central square of the town is occupied by a centuries-old oak tree, the Sanctuary Oak, where proclamations are made and where once judgements were made. There is a tradition that if anyone feels they have been unjustly accused of any matter they can claim sanctuary for so long as they can touch the tree and no-one is allowed to remove them by force, and that the Lord of Jayne Keep will come to hear their case and make a final judgement.

The Great Hall of Jayne Keep is two storeys high with a balcony around overlooking the ground floor area, supported by two pillars on each side, each carved to resembled the trunks of trees complete with bark patterns and knots.
