The Molydeus

General Summary

The group engaged the Molydeus hoping to extract Benkei and escape but when the Molydeus displayed the ability to generate an antimagic field that it itself was immune to, it became clear that escape was next to impossible. Caught off-guard by the sudden assault, the entire group save for Izanagi was killed with Genji and Conradus both falling victim to its vorpal chains. After managing to force a retreat from the Molydeus, Benkei and Izanagi gathered up the remains of their comrades and spent the night in the instant fortress. Over the rest, the group gained a level of Abyssal Corruption as a result of their betrayal and execution of Quagmire.
The following morning, Benkei used plane shift to return to the army where they'd taken refuge in the ruins of a sunken city after Yomi's terrain had begun to shift. Benkei explained to Tao-Ren what had occurred and (against Izanagi's wishes) also explained to her the deal they'd struck with Viras. Unable to bring herself to sanction what they wished to do, Tao-Ren left the responsibility of procuring an "innocent soul" to the group.
