Conradus Stonero

Conradus Stonero

Conradus is an over confident, over excited, and over the top paladin of Tyr. At a young age he demonstrated an aptitude for martial combat. It was an obvious route for him to become a paladin and not a cleric like his parents and grandparents before him.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Conradus is a tall, brawny, and broad shouldered individual.

Body Features

On any part of his body you can find a memory of a battle.

Identifying Characteristics

The most stunning part of Conradus is due to his angelic heritage. He has golden, almost luminescent, eyes. As well as bright, near white blonde hair.

Special abilities

While all Aasimar can unlock a piece of their angelic forefathers for a short period of time, Conradus can begin to unleash the divine energy from within him. Any creature around him will begin to burn from the radiant power.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Conradus was born into the large Aasimar population in Seraphix, the nation south of Koryo. His family are high ranking members among the Church of Tyr. While his Mother and Father were both clerics he found himself enjoying bringing the might of Tyr's to his enemies first hand. Early into his young adulthood he was shoved into a holy war of sorts against the forces of the Church of Bane. The Church of Bane's military might was led by a confident and powerful Fallen Aasimar by the name of Nultial Invictus. Nultial would rarely appear on the field of combat, but when he did Conradus would rush him head on. Conradus knew that Nultial was always just toying with him in their brawls. When the Dark Apostle would finally get bored he would toss the young paladin aside like a used napkin. The one bright side of his over confidence was it gardnered the attetion to other elites within the Church of Tyr. He flew through the ranks of the Church of Tyr's military arm until finally he was taken off the battlefield entirely. He was placed on a diplomaic mission, to go north to the isolated orient of Koryo on behalf of Seraphix's leadership as a whole. Most did not agree with the selection of Conradus as he was seen more of a brute than a diplomat, but he was one of the few that did not need a station of bodyguards to defend himself. Regardless he was sent to the north to attempt to negotiate the lifting of their isolationist policy. Meeting a human man named Genji and kitsune woman named Nozomi on his way to the capital.

Education

As with all born within his Aasimar community of Tyr worshippers his education primarily came from the church libraries and the clerical order. Conradus took his education seriously, in his own time of course. Much to the annoyance of his teachers Conradus would spend a majority of their time being a fool with his friends Ealdier and Avram. In the end he completed the education needed to become a paladin of the church.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Conradus was able to return north to Koryo in his friend's time of need and was able to help them defeat the leader of the Yonkishi, Mugen the Death. In doing so he was able to become a part of an elite order of Tyr's paladins known as the Hammers of Grimjaw.

Failures & Embarrassments

He carries a load of great guilt, for one he has never been able to defeat Nultial Invictus in combat. In response to that feels the war dragged on longer than it needed to and is frightened that the man is still alive. Another failure he sees was when he was helpless to save his recently bonded friend Sanada Yukimura (Genji). Conradus was in the crutches of a beast, 120 feet in the air, only able to watch as Sayuri the Pestilence distentigrated his companion. He was at least able to rectify that situation by completing a great favor to revive his fallen comrade. However the failure that fills him with the most sorrow is the death of Nozomi. His small group were in Tengoku when the attack from the Yonkishi to awaken Mugen began. While himself and Genji were able to escape she was caught in the grasp of Setsuna the Flood's wave and before he realized what had happened it was too late. Lastly Conradus wishes that the fall of Babylon didnt destablize his nation as hard as it did, with the loss of their head of state all the churches across the land escalated the holy war to a true war for political power. Conradus had to return home to protect his homeland. He wishes he would have been able to help defeat the rest of the yonkishi but had faith in Genji to get the job done.

Mental Trauma

The death of Nozomi and Genji instilled something in Conradus. He made an oath to himself he would never ever leave another ally behind. He would sooner die himself before seeing another friend fall away lifeless.

Intellectual Characteristics

Conradus is intriqued by new technology, especially if it involves combat. It has become kind of one of his go-to moves to ask local blacksmiths if they have come up with something they want tested.

Morality & Philosophy

Conradus has a pretty cut and dry morality in that if youre doing something against the law or in ill will against someone you should be punished for your actions. However knowing how unsavory war can be sometimes, moral sacrifices have to be made for the greater good of the people.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Most of Conradus's decisions come from a place of selflessness, yes he wants to gain strength and is always searching for new forms of power. That could be as simple as a new weapon or as complex as an alliance but he believes if he is strong others do not have to and can be protected by him.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

Conradus prides himself on being acute in social situations and considers himself able to at least get to the negotiating table. However much to the chagrin of Genji he is not always the best tactition and is not afraid to brute his way through a problem if a combat situation arrises.

Likes & Dislikes

Conradus enjoys anytime he is spending with good company. He could be in some hell cave filled with slime creatures, in the middle of battleifield, or somewhere normal if he is surrounded with friends he will not mind in the slightest. The thing that annoys Conradus the most is indecision, he is not against plans he is against arguing about plans. If he believes action needs to be taken then it should be taken as soon as possible

Virtues & Personality perks

He cares for the common folk and would certainly put his life on the line for really anyone that asked for help and he would hope his allies would follow suit.

Vices & Personality flaws

His major flaw is he is over-confident he believes, especially now, any mountain is climbable if you just put your soul into it. This constantly gets him in unfavorable situations but he always seems to pull it out, which in turn exacerbates the problem.

Hygiene

Conradus is a reflection of not only his church but his nation as a whole. Due to this fact he puts in major effort to maintain personal cleanliness, especially within city walls.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Conradus has easily accesable contacts within the Church of Tyr due to his ranking within the church.
He is also alligned with Bito Kanzashi

Religious Views

Conradus is a strong and devout believer in Tyr. Even though the gods have retreated beyond the divine gate he has faith that he is still protected under the watchful eye of the Blind Justice.

Social Aptitude

Conradus is incredibly comfortable in social situations and is not afraid to put someone on the back foot in a negotiation. However this aggressive strategy does tend to backfire.

It never is easy.
1355 AB

I do not know how to process the last 48(?) hours. I guess we can start by focusing on the positives. We got the mirror and are two down in our quest to collect the regalia. Now lets list the badnews. Our forward operating base has been consumed by the invading plane. Benkei's creator did not stop with just Benkei so we have to face a mechanical army as well as a demon horde. Izanami truly believes she is helping us and that us mortals need to live without loss. Lastly and probably the one that stings the most is we failed in getting the last piece of the puzzle. I do not really know what to do. Do we wander the coast until we find the storm monarchs shrine? Do we report to Tao Ren we failed? The one thing that sticks with me is Susanoo claimed some of us lacked resolve while looking at Genji and Benkei. To claim I have resolve and they dont is just not something I can agree with. Thier actions have displayed resolve time and time again. Genji made a decision that effectively exiled him from civilization and Benkei broke the chains of his master to forge his own path. I have done nothing nearly close to that, but how do I tell a demigod, maybe even a real god, that they are wrong. I pray to Tyr we are able to talk to him again quickly and get the information we need.

Win Conditions
1355 AB

It is quite an unpleasant experience to be forcefully teleported, especially going from artificial night to the middle of the dessert. I do not really know where to go from here. In the macro-sense I know we need to collect the Three Regalia however I am currently wondering the dessert while I presume my friends are dead. Laxius clearly succeeded in summoning Izanami considering the darkness rising from the chasm. I do hope Genji and Benkei were wise enough to just run once I was teleported away. I hope I can make it to at least one of the dessert cities but my navigation skills have never been my strongsuit. I pray to Tyr we an regroup before its too late, its really our only win condition.

Bravery
1355 AB

Yesterday I was not brave. I followed orders, I ran from a foe when I should have stayed and fought. That was not bravery. When running to the market district I did not once think to run back to the Saint's aid. That was not bravery. When we were nearing the end of combat with Tamamo no Mae I did not think of my friends wellbeing, only of her defeat. That was not bravery. I told Tao Ren about our groups betrayal of her trust, when I knew we were in a position where she could not really punish us. That was not bravery.   Today we returned to that floating isle where I had thought it was all over and we had finally won. We figured the riddle was for someone to die (thank Tyr we got that correct). Genji was brave in trusting us that this was the next step even though he was not present in our exploration. Benkei was brave in trusting me to bring him back as he was the one who assumed the mantle of death. Sora was brave in ignoring the groups decision and deciding it was her life that shall be sacrificed. I just stoodby and watched. That was not bravery.   Now with wherever that gateway has transported us to we stand face to face with a goddess, demigod, or some other definition of ancient power (I do not really know). For better or worse I remembered the "fairytale" that was told to us. I do not know if I am speaking to her out of fear or bravery but hopefully I can convince her we truly are not the threat she assumes we are.

Victory At What Cost
1355 AB

We got Galbatorix. But it is not a time for celebration. That damn half-orc's dying act was to curse Genji's very soul by condemning his own. It burns me to my very core that Genji has been debilitated in the way he has. It should have been me. I am the one these horrid Bane worshipers have been after from the beginning. The worst part is if I had healed Benkei and he was conscious enough to soul cage or gotten the final blow with this soul trapping scythe maybe Genji would have been spared.   The only bright spot is we know how to cure this curse, we need to kill Nultial Invictus within a year otherwise its effects are permanent.   I will do everything in my power to end Nultial's very existence for this act against a man who has become a brother. Anyone who attempts to stop me will perish with him.

Progress.
1355 AB

We made real tangible progress over the past couple days. First and foremost we got that bitch Vazrimoth. It was not ideal as she is now trapped within the scythe rather than the imprisonment spell as originally planned but it could be worse. I do find it humorous Benkei is seemingly unable to cast spells through scrolls. It was also funny to see Laxius's face when I struck her down with that scythe as he thought we had just fucked it up again. I am of the opinion we should make preparations to head north.   Maybe I can meet with Kojiro once more before than. I believe I am getting the basics of his fighting style, maybe once I have it under control I can make use of the scythe after all. For better or worse I do not want to unattune from it now just due to the fact I do not want to unknowingly release Vazrimoth from her imprisonment.

Now We Wait
1355 AB

We have the scroll, we know she is after us, it is now just a waiting game until we strike at Vazrimoth again. Not much more to say about that. We also now think they are up north near the glass cliffs and assume theyre trying to get in contact with Tamamo no Mae.   I do wish to speak to Sasaki Kojiro, his fighting technique has me very intrigued. One handing a heavy weapon is quite the feat of strength. While yes I specialize in larger weapons myself, the use of my shield prohibits me from using their full potential. I do not know if it is even possible to learn his fighting style in a relatively short amout of time but would certainly like to try.   Sora seems to have the attitude of someone who is repentant of their past sins, however I will want to keep a close eye on her until she has truly gained my trust.

A Permanent Solution
1355 AB

First and foremost seeing the majesty of an ancient gold dragon was incredible and honestly reassuring that a creature of that strength is presiding over Feng Nao. Liu-Xiao agreeing to help us is certainly a huge boon. All we need to do is collect a bandit leader and his weapon that "breathes fire" , which in all honesty does not seem like an incredibly hard task at all. In return she will gift us a solution to our Vazrimoth problem, a scroll of imprisonment.   All in all things are certainly looking up again as we have a focused goal. It is hard to get things done when we have a wide reaching goal of "stop the apostles." I truly believe prioritizing Vazrimoth's permanent death is the correct course of action. After which Galbatorix is on the chopping block.   However we have had some disturbing revalations. According to Laxius, Nultital has been muttering about a "mother". To me this points us to what we had to deal with two years ago. My primary belief is Izanami has somehow been in contact with him, but I would not be surprised if one of her sons currently has him possessed him.

Hubris is the Downfall of Man
1355 AB

We almost made real progress and as much as I want to blame Genji. I need to apologize to him first and foremost, I really laid into him when I came out of my "rest". It really was my fault. I was the one who rushed in. I was the one that let my emotion and hubris take over. I am the reason Bito needs repair. I am the reason I fell in battle. Most importantly I am the reason Vazrimoth still lives on. The only brightside is that it was my own actions that got myself killed rather than my foolishness killing Benkei or Genji.   I really do not know what to do for the first time in a long time. Do we attempt to use the coin? Do we head to Feng-Nao? Do we wait in the chasm for Vazrimoth to return? Maybe Laxius has some insight. I just do not know. I do not want to make the wrong decision but indecision could lead to a much worse situation. Maybe Benkei and Genji have some ideas.   I think in all reality I am afraid. We do not know anyone's true endgame, Laxius' or Nultial's. We just know Laxius wants the Apostles dead, and with Nultial, we have really no idea what he wants I have just been making guesses.   I pray to Tyr we start to finally put some pieces together but with our recent track record I am not hopeful.

It Got Worse
1355 AB

I continue to be amazed at how one second we have a grasp everything and the next we are literally making it worse. Today was supposed to be simple, after two weeks of getting a new usable weapon for me we were to actually get more info on what is going on. Well that 100% did not happen. Not only did we not get any new info on what was going on we literally helped the beings who are working against us. The worst part is that I was the one who acted too fast, Benkei froze and I felt something needed to be done. Bottom line it was just stupid and careless and I am dissapointed in myself. Now we have a big fucking problem that has to be near the top of stuff we have had to overcome.

Benkei is a Fool and the Next Steps
1355 AB

I think I am starting to understand Genji's lack of trust. Benkei has proven he is too foolish to understand the gravity of keeping a powerful enemy within his abode's walls. The fact he does not even know if his basement is a seperate entity from this realm or not is troubling to say the least. I do hope he comes to his senses and allows Mifune to take the seal.   While we are now considerably richer and have a new bargaining tool with the mine the fact another visage of a demon lord has appeared is troubling, or "kami" to Genji and Benkei. It has been far too often to be a coincidence, you know what they say 3s a pattern. It honestly feels like we're back at the beginning of our adventure when Nozomi, Genji, Banshou, and I had no real idea what we're getting into. Sure we are stronger but knowledge is power and we truly know nothing.   In a lighter mood I hope to go to the isolationists and convince them to craft me a weapon because Tyr knows the foreign Katana doesnt suit me, I need something with more oomf. While the blade smith in Miketsukami seemed very skilled, I did truly enjoy the mechanical weapon crafted for me by Kakuzu and if I can get another by the true masterminds that would be ideal. Maybe Genji could get a weapon crafted from the blade master instead of me? Either way choices to be made.   The next couple days shall be interesting, I will suggest Genji and I do some more mining while Benkei figures out his plan. Afterwards I will want Benkei to take me to Byakuroku even if the attempt will be futile as I am still a foriegner. Interesting times ahead to be sure I just hope we are ready...

Upgrades, People, Upgrades.
1355 AB

I believe we accomplished a lot the past couple days. First of all Benkei was able to quell my fears of Mugen returning with him confirming that yes his basement was a type of demiplane. Still a bit uneasy about the whole situation, but at least we have some form of defense rather than it just being in a random basement.   Second of all the Daimy0 of Byakuroku was actually easier to convince to increase our firepower (literally) than I initially thought. All we had to do was find out why these desert "bandits", they seemed more like simple nomads to me, were encroaching into the northern territory. They were just following nature's warnings, something that is not out of the ordinary for people who do not live in a major city. I will say I am a bit worried about Mae-Lin and her clan's journey. I do hope they arrive at Tao-Tei with little trouble. I am glad we were able to handle the situation diplomatically as it seems Daimyo Mikazuki Tanjiro would have preferred to just kill them all. One major thing that bothered me was his reaction to Genji and Benkei helping his city. They are from the capital, why would they not want their whole country to prosper? I would like to continue to keep a relationshp with him just for the fact to keep tabs on him. The fact I did not see their grand contraptions during the war's final battle is concerning. Did they not understand the stakes or are they that worried the rest of the country would catch up? Also why would that be an issue? Probably a case of "just wants the best for his city and people" but still very fishy and that is not even getting started on the fact they can apparently "see" everything that happens in their city. Bottom line is I do not like this guy.   Finally, as I was unable to get a fancy mechanical hammer as the lotus blacksmith "does not take comissions", I brought the remaining jade to Hattori Hanzo to craft an axe. At least it will pack more of a punch than a sword. The question as always is whats next. Now that we know exactly what the black coin does, do we summon Galbatorix in an isolated part of the desert and just throw down? Do we head to Feng-Nao? Either way whatever comes next we need to be ready for it, "Be not defeated by the rain" as Mae-Lin said. Do not let the unexpected cause you problems.
