Ruins of the Highest One

The deeper one ventures; the more symbols appear. It’s not Jawsīc. It’s something … older. I wish to learn more but there’s something off about this place. I fear I’d find more than I bargained for. - Arnold Dean stated in The Ravings of a Scientist
Found within the Kuno Jungle, residing to the south of the Naquar Lake sits a large ruin. Most of what the ruins was has been lost to both nature and history. The only known things were that the ruins once were a proud religious building, perhaps a tomb due to how deep the building goes, and that Darkness was the celebrated god in question. Not even the Cimmerians know much about it, but that hasn't stopped rumors from circulating. Some believe that the tomb is actually the gateway to Kiamet, Darkness's prison. While others simply believe that it was simply where the Ancient Cimmerians went to pray.   Recent visitors speak of differing experiences, though the main idea is that something is wrong with the ruins. Most describe the ruins as having an energy surrounding it, not malicious or evil, but almost confused. This changes as they descend into the catacombs, never wishing to state that the energy feels dangerous, but standing firmly with the idea that whatever it was, did not want them there.   Despite this, many still visit the ruins, but hardly do any of them travel deep enough to face whatever might linger.

Purpose / Function

Based off of the statues, decor, and general architecture, the ruins was meant to be a place of worship. And, perhaps it was, though it can no longer hold that title. Over time, thieves came and took what they could while nature claimed whatever it could. One of the only things that now remain is a tall statue of a godly figure, residing in the middle of the first floor. Many speculate this statue as being Darkness, due to the representation of his eyes.   No one knows what rests deeper within the tomb, few travel deep enough and if there has been any brave souls, they have yet to tell that tale.
