Cole

The surprisingly good dad!

.AI, dad Cole .AI (a.k.a. Robodad)

"He's an odd one that new neighbor. Apparently, he works at R&D to provide for his daughter but then he goes 'round threatening that he'd removed the kneecaps of the next preacher that shows up at his door." - Cole's neighbor

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Cole's current robotic suit is in excellent conditioning, capable of changing configuration. He can turn himself into a turret, helicopter, armored assault vehicle, support station, a brawler, and artillery cannon. Both the structural integrity of the armor and that of his barrier generator are in excellent shape, allowing him to tank pretty much any hit given to him.   His joints are oiled and flexible, allowing him to reach behind him and turn on the spot with ease and the servos have been upgraded, further increasing his near limitless robotic strength. The only thing that is 'lacking' is his glitchy code which makes him into the psycho he is.

Body Features

Cole is heavily armed and armored. His hands can turn into a rotary selection of 3 high powered weapons (Automatic rocket launcher, 50 caliber Gatling gun and flamethrower on his left arm and a laser caster, quadruple barrel shotgun and a minigun style grenade launcher on the right.). On his back are higher powered weapons that he can only access in certain configurations.   He's mostly made out of dwarven carbon fiber and dwarven titanium for maximum durability with shields over it to guard it. He's double kneed legs can easily carry and move the weight of the weapons he carries at a respectable speed while on his shoulder he has spotlights to allow others to see in the dark.   Cole himself, in any form, be it his main robot suit, his auxiliary robot suit or just in a computer is always represented by a cartoonish red skull.

Facial Features

Red cartoonish skull

Identifying Characteristics

Several offensive bumper stickers on his shoulder. One of his rocket tubes is painted to look like an elven window shutter.

Physical quirks

Cole's walk pattern unsurprisingly is very robotic. He can shake the ground slightly with each step and will gladly do so to piss off the neighbors he doesn't like. He's ambidextrous and prefers to remain in computers that have large amounts of storage available. He will often remark that 'it's tight in here' when he enters a computer with under 3 terabytes available as memory.   He has a habit of speaking in an upbeat, optimistic and cheerful tone that is completely detached from the dark topics and nihilistic things he talks about. He even keeps this tone when actively threatening people or in the middle of combat.

Rockets can only be destroyed mid-flight by impacting into a surface, not by chain explosions or bullets. Rockets can make sharp turns but have no notable flight speed statistics.   ****12 barrels each with a single smoker round loaded into it. The 12 barrels along with the advanced aimbot system give the AI the ability to fire 12 shots at the same time at different targets. It was designed for hostage situations where pinpoint accuracy is required along with several targets needing to be hit at the same time.   # Cole can constantly update himself wich both adds strengths such as new weaponry, better firmware and such while also occasionally receiving bugs and glitches that cause him to malfunction.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

In total there are 5 A.A.A.E AI: Isaac (blue), Bembe (green), Yusuf (Yellow), Jay (purple) and Cole (red). The first one to be created was Isaac and Dexter did not create him with sentience in mind but just wanted to maximize its efficiency in warfare. AI controlling robots as soldiers were not a new thing but Isaac was more self-aware and had more features in his core:   -Spooky skull protocol. (the ability to upload itself into a terminal for a hack)   -Core programming. (A feature that made primary directives and certain values unchangeable by anyone wich prevented hacking and corruption.)   -Rage. (A feature that lets the AI ignore orders or break certain values based on setbacks.)   -Weapon lock. (A standard feature that locks the weapons when aiming at allies.)   -Situational judgment. (A feature that allowed the AI to judge situations that allow it to override the weapon lock to prevent the AI standing idly by betrayal.)   -Chemical injector. (A feature that allowed the AI to increase it's vigor when taking damage.)   -Child-friendly regulator. (A feature that forces the AI to change it’s avatar into a less scary cartoon skull when children are detected.)   Isaac was the first relatively self-aware AI but one issue is that thanks to the chemical injector (a new but relatively unassuming feature that was considered excessive at first) allowed Isaac to let chemistry affect his decision making. Despite the fact that he couldn't go against his core programming and primary directives. His accidental sentience left his code full of glitches. He was able to download files freely but not remove them and through the biochemistry affecting him now, he could ‘download’ emotions whenever he encountered them. Most of it was rage.   Seeing the potential for something amazing Dexter copied Isaac and streamlined the features, intentionally preparing it for sentience. Thus Bembe was created who despite his full sentience, his ability to self learn, mimic things and more he didn't seem to behave much differently from Isaac while copying the racism that was intentionally programmed into target races on one side of the war while protecting those on the other side of it. Dexter decided this was due to the primary directives being the same. Bembe was just a less dysfunctional and glitchy Isaac who questioned his orders more. Despite fully living up to Dexter's expectations and performing well in the war Dexter was not satisfied.   Next up was Yusuf who would go on to become the most functional of the five. Like Bembe was to Isaac Yusuf was a copy from Bembe but fine-tuned and to prevent Yusuf from being single-minded like his predecessor he was given a secondary directive other than warfare: to explore sentience and become independent within a moral and functional area. Despite the maddening level of ambiguity, Yusuf followed it well, he followed his core programming but also had interests outside of war even though they were loosely connected to it (designing vehicles, armor and weapons and the like). When the war ended 7 years later Yusuf went on to disregard the now useless primary directive and became a public transport designer. He even managed to tone down the racism that was part of the war programming after the treaty due to his ability to reason with himself.   However, the issue was that it took Yusuf a while to begin developing interests outside of his main directive and after 3 ‘failures’ Dexter became impatient so within a month of setting Yusuf free he moved on to Jay. Jay was a copy of Yusuf but his primary directive priorities were switched. His primary directive was now to explore sentience and conscience while of course adding failsafes because Dexter isn't an idiot. The problem was that up until now all the AI had war as their primary directive while Jay didn't so when he came to discover his own mortality he got to fear death rather quickly while Isaac, Yusuf, and Bembe all accepted it. Jay just didn't have the soldier's mindset that his predecessors had and completely disregarded his secondary directive. His fear of death made him the most dangerous as shutting him down was met with heavy resistance. Jay, despite the fail safes and him being the fourth in the series, is the most dysfunctional AI. His motivations change constantly, he is unpredictable and can not keep his emotions under control.   Fed up with ‘failed’ attempts and the fact Yusuf still didn't start to show his promising progress Dexter went and made Cole, the most haywire yet functional and definitely most dangerous AI of them all. To prevent a second Jay, Dexter copied his draft and did little else than remove his self-preservation protocols and recognition of his own mortality in a rather lazy way that would come back to haunt him. Certain failsafes were removed that caused bugs with Jay and Cole were given a new secondary objective which was to grow and develop within a moral area and a third one which was to focus on recording the mecha chemical processes and giving Dexter updates. This focus is what made Cole so dangerous because in order to record them he had to feel them and with his inability to recognize his own mortality he often failed to recognize that of others. The ‘moral area’ part was quickly regarded as a suggestion and it began to really get out of hand when Cole hacked his way into an IMM-x76 Bulwark bot (the deadliest of war machines). Cole's racist programming that Dexter lazily forgot to remove was unleashed in all of its fury upon the weakened renegade, orcish, beastfolk cities. Cole single-handedly forced the joint empire alliance to surrender. Now with the war over and beastfolk not actually being enemies anymore Cole's violent programming became a more glaring issue. After the war, Dexter very quickly had a “what have I created” moment when Cole had a murder party with Av'ren illith (renegade elven) civilians.   Cole didn't get along with his brethren either, most notably Jay who he mercilessly bullied for being afraid of death. He was far more advanced than the other 3 as well and as he kept on developing his heinously humorous, destructive but chaotic good personality he very quickly got big into nihilism, the belief that nothing in life matters. For years Cole went on to terrorize those who found themselves on the losing side of the war. “Tell your children I'm coming to collect their spines next! :D” was a phrase Cole spread fanatically while Dexter desperately tried to limit the damage and clean up behind him.   It wasn't until the war on divinity that Cole calmed down, mainly because he was going about his business, shooting shamblers and abominations that were raiding a desert town because he could when he came across Kyra, an orphaned Gansh'te Illith (desert elf) who happened to be the same race as Kat. Desert elves were an allied race so naturally, Cole took protecting her. His programming was a bit vague, forcing him to persist until allied races were no longer in danger. Issue: Kyra was young and defenseless so almost always in danger. Cole's programming forced him to look after the girl in his own nihilistic yet somehow caring way. When she was effectively no longer in danger she had prompted Cole to download numerous emotions and more notably, an emotional attachment to her and because of the attachment that they formed to each other Cole couldn't leave anymore and took guardianship. With the reports of Cole annihilating former enemy sided races dwindling Dexter stopped trying to shut him down as well.

Gender Identity

Male

Sexuality

Cole is completely Asexual by design.

Education

Cole has been programmed with virtually all the knowledge that was available to be crammed into a memory tank. He has 3 data clouds as well and can easily access the internet to update his database.

Employment

Formerly Cole kind of haphazardly wandered around killing anyone he figured was an enemy. Over the years of becoming more civil Cole started using his internal computers and limitless creativity to do R&D. He now works as a high ranking weapons designer as well as the CEO of his very own battery company named Cole-a-cell.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Cole has over 300.000 confirmed kills in the war against the empire and 5.000 confirmed captives recovered, making him the soldier with the highest body count in this war.   Cole has successfully started a company producing high powered batteries of his own design.   Cole has designed several practical weapons that are widely used and popular among allies.   Cole has successfully protected and brought home a young desert elf from the most dangerous area of Jeslore.

Failures & Embarrassments

Cole has allowed his daughter to install a pacifier at some point which resets his violent mood back to lower values, effectively allowing her to keep him from killing people he doesn't like.

Mental Trauma

He's crazy by design

Intellectual Characteristics

Cole's intellect spans for miles as he has access to such a large database, anything from speaking foreign languages fluently to advanced cooking techniques are available for him to use on the go.

Morality & Philosophy

Cole's moral fabric is as torn as the bodies of the people he doesn't like. His philosophy and outlook are extremely nihilistic, something he projects onto anyone he crosses in varying doses. "Life is meaningless" is a common phrase coming from Cole and it's usually referencing how he doesn't care what people think as none of it is real.

Taboos

None

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Cole has no real motivation anymore other than wanting to keep his daughter safe. Formerly he just wanted to kill each and every last member of the race that was programmed to be an enemy for him.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

With the amount of knowledge he has to his disposal, there isn't much Cole isn't good at. The only thing he might be lacking in is making friends, something he's not even interested in.

Likes & Dislikes

Likes: Senseless violence, swing music, brandishing firearms at people he doesn't like and very few people   Dislikes: ALL beastfolk (anthros in particular), Slavers and running out of flamethrower fuel

Virtues & Personality perks

Extremely tanky, near limitless amount of knowledge, superstrength, in possession of over 14 heavy weapon types. Cole also has several gadgets available further increasing his ability to hunt down targets. On his own, without a suit, he can hack into any device that doesn't have boardburners installed.

Vices & Personality flaws

Cole has an incredibly short fuse and it won't take much before he brandishes his weapons at someone. This makes him a not ideal neighbor, especially when his daughter is not around to reset his anger levels to the lowest value. He also has a bad habit of projecting his nihilistic beliefs onto anyone who will listen to him.

Personality Quirks

Cole can often glitch while laughing, making him sound more robotic than intended.

Hygiene

Cole is obsessed with hygiene. He has programmed the board computer of his own house to keep it in tip-top shape at all times. About his mech though he's less concerned as it is meant to take extreme amounts of punishment. Hygiene is another thing he projects onto his daughter.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Cole is closely tied with the immortals as one of their lead weapon R&D scientists.

Family Ties

Kyra San'dmer (daughter) Dexter Diasun (creator)

Religious Views

"religion is stupid and religious people are stupid!" - Cole when answering the door to preachers.

Social Aptitude

Cole is extremely blunt in his words and has little to no history of every choosing his words carefully. He's extremely bad at making friends, something he doesn't care about. Cole thinks very highly of himself, seeing himself as the smartest creature in the galaxy and the one that's best at hard raw calculations.

Mannerisms

Cole sounds like a very optimistic narrator from old self-help manuals and tutorials except in a higher pitch. Cheerful and friendly sounding with words that have been out of style since the Synthrise (pal, chum, etc) and this tone is most jarring when he's talking about maiming and murdering those he doesn't like.

Hobbies & Pets

Cole enjoys bowling, minigolf and spending time with his daughter as his hobbies. He owns two dogs (a chihuahua and a pug) and always carries around his #1 dad mug, even though he clearly doesn't need coffee.

Speech

Cheerful and friendly sounding with a specific filter over in a way that only old movies and series could. Yet there is a glitch with his speakers that makes it sound like all his dialogue was recorded in an echo chamber. He sounds very American, but old fashioned, charming American and not the redneck version. Cole often comes up with very long, creative insults to make people he doesn't like feel bad, this is a process he created himself and insults are based on a scan he performs when seeing a new person.   Cole curses very frequently but when he detects the presence of a child, which is more often than one would suspect he automatically censors himself. The censor bleep plays in the same tone all the time regardless of the volume of his own voice. Days at work with cool can sound like an unending barrage of bleeps, even when he would be whispering to himself.

Wealth & Financial state

Cole has a steady income as a researcher and CEO, choosing to spend most of it on scientific applications for in his house.
