Tukren

The Tukren were the people of the Tukrok Khanate, a civilization which dominated Tukarsh in the years following The Scouring. While the great civilizations of the Age of Man disintegrated in the east and south, the forgotten tribes to the west watched as the land burned in Saint Chumas' Fire. Little remained in the wake of the disaster and those who did banded together into small post apocalyptic social groups, while the relatively untouched tribes of the steppes faced a significantly more mortal cataclysm.   The person who went by the name Khooson, and would later be sainted by the God of Conquest, united the tribes by bloody subjegation. The Tukren were once a varied and rich set of cultures, but were forged together in Khooson's bloody crucible. The Tukren are often characterized as a simple and warlike people due to the many successful conquests of the Tukrok Khanate, but the reality is significantly more complex.   Also known as the "Thousand Language People", the Tukren were unmatched linguists who were known to master dozens of languages and regional dialects. While the Tukrok Khanate attempted to homogenize every new people inducted, individual groups fiercely held onto their beliefs and tongues, passing them down and working with other groups to preserve their individual and common cultures. The Tukren collectively celebrated a day of great mourning in the wake of the Scouring, where they prayed and made offerings in an attempt to appease the Gods who scraped the east clean, as well as performing rituals to prevent the great sicknesses which infested the civilizations of the Age of Man.   The Tukren were excellent crafters, traders, and communicators. They were each the connoisseurs of a hundreds cultures which allowed them to easily trade, work with, and incorporate new people groups. The Tukrok Khanate largely collapsed around the year 850 BBA, and with it, the Tukren tradition quickly vanished, but the memory of the Tukrok Khanate and the valuable cooperation of the Tukren people inspired much of the diplomatic and cultural views on Tukarsh today.
