Axius, God of Conquest

Strength Cunning Destruction

Divine Domains

War, Arcana   Those who worship Axius find themselves in competition to become the greatest military leaders and strategists in the world. The only aspect of life deemed valuable to the followers of Axius is one's ability to outfox and conquer all who stand in obstinance and opposition.

Tenets of Faith

Strength, Cunning, Destruction   The mortals who adhere to the teachings of the God of Conquest are well known for their combat and strategic prowess.

Holidays

Like the other Gods associated with war and conflict, Axius is celebrated on Glory Day on the 9th of Timitusmensis. The followers of Axius spend their entire lives learning and training for warfare and battle, but Glory Day marks the beginning of a 6 week long period of intense study and training, culminating in great games and tournaments among the followers of the great Gods of Order.   At the end of the 6 week period of intense training following Glory Day comes The Great Expulsion, on the 15th of Gelavamensis. This occasion celebrates the continued martial growth of the followers of Axius and perhaps the God of Conquest's greatest victory, his victory over Ito and the Gods of Nonintervention.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Axius cares little for matters of morality and ethics. Axius' influence on the world is one of ever expanding military prowess and strategic wisdom. Axius favors those with brilliant minds for strategy and tactics among mortals but it is said that victory, regardless of how it is achieved, is the most prized feat a mortal can achieve in the eyes of the God of Conquest.   It is the belief of the followers of Axius that the God of Conquest prefers mortals for their ingenuity, adaptability and seemingly infinite capacity to pull a victory, however unlikely, from the jaws of defeat. It is for this reason that Axius awaits the most worthy of mortals to be granted the title of High Conqueror so that the God of Conquest might allow them to join him in commanding Axius' forces and lesser followers the eternal conflict in Eldguard.   It is on Eldguard that Axius primarily resides, also known as The Valley of Bones, a vast plane on which heroes, warriors and tacticians do constant battle and eternally hone their skills. Axius' faithful constantly do battle in both life and death in preparation for whatever force might attempt to destroy or do harm to Jeharr or Eldguard. The other Gods and mortals like to think that they know what the future holds, be it the battle between The Unerring Path and chaotic diversion or the return of Gaulgulis, God of Damnation. Axius and his followers care not for such predictions.   Axius holds two things to be true. The first is that conflict is an inevitability and that any steady state of existence is certain to be challenged by it. The second is that Axius and his followers will be victorious in any such conflict. So they train and hone their minds and bodies for the day that their lives are threatened, and victory is the only option.   Axius has few petty relationships with the other Gods. Although Axius is in perpetual conflict with Val'Miis, Goddess of Courage and Ulrok, God of Violence on Eldguard, Axius is said to respect them as powerful, if somewhat simplistic warriors, and sees them as likely allies in the future. Axius looks at all non mortals, including most Gods as simple resources to be gained from as assets or training.
