Cleansing of Saratheas

Over the course of several months the city of Saratheas was besieged, the walls eventually torn down, and any Nyr opposing Zerenda's troups were slaughtered. At the end of the massacre Saratheas was declared the new captial of Ivendarea.

The new king Zerenda had decided to make Saratheas the new capital of his realm - a more central city in a warmer region than Canwyl was. Saratheas had been the spiritual captial until then, with some of the oldest temples and most ancient buildings of the country. Due to its location at the side of a mountain, Saratheas wasn't easy to conquer, and the humans besieged the city for months, tiring and starving the inhabitants out that had entrenched themselves behind the high stone walls. A siege engine particularly created for the purpose of conquering Saratheas had to be invented first, and it was assembled just below the city. Then everything went down quickly: the walls were destroyed and scaled, and everyone who opposed the soldiers or couldn't flee quickly enough was slaughtered. Zerenda was there himself that day and declared the city the new capital. A lot of reconstruction work followed soon and lasted many years, until the city had been shaped according to Zerenda's wishes, completely void of any nyr until shortly before his death.
