The Dawnkin Pride
The Dawnkin Pride is the mightiest of the families on the Dresgari Plains, and the rulers of Goldcrest. They are both the largest and the most powerful of Jezat's Leonai tribes. These Leonai were the first to settle down from their nomadic tribal lifestyle, founding the city of Goldcrest at the base of the river of gold. They are proud warriors with very strict ideas of what honor looks like. A member of the Dawnkin pride takes their honor and their standing extremely seriously, with challenges to this authority often resulting in duels.
The Dawnkin Pride is sworn to Tildor, Lord of the Sun and their patron god. It is said that he cast rays of light upon the river of gold, signaling to the Leonai that they were to build a city there. From this original divine purpose, they claim to draw powers of persuasion and light which they wield as a symbol of their power. In reality, this power instead is sourced from a compact made between old members of the Dawnkin Pride with the ancient brass dragon Cyrmderoth, Flame of the Sun. He granted power to the Dawnkin in return for protection of the Dresgari plains as well as his hoard. From this compact, the Dawnkin pride draw their sorcerous bloodline (imperial) as well as their Pride's signature Liondrakes. The great dragon has since retreated deep into the Clouded Spine, where he slumbers long within his den.
The Dawnkin pride numbers about three hundred individuals who bear enough of their blood to bear the name Dawnkin. Their sorcerous bloodline only runs in the purest of their line, leaving many young Leonai who have something to prove. This pride regularly sends its younger members out questing in search for treasure, gold and the glory which is so renowned among the pride. Should they be successful, they may find themselves a prestigious position as a Lion Knight of Goldcrest.
