Belmont Dan Fearfeld
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Belmont has a deep interest in medical science as his parents were respectable doctors within the Wildemore and he would follow them on the routine check-ups, assist in cleaning the practice, observe autopsies, and even attend his parents in the morgue. It was while attending to his duties in the morgue that Belmont discovered he had been blessed, or perhaps cursed, to possess minor powers of sorcery.
During one of his breaks at the practice Belmont was playing with his favourite toy, a puppet of a solider that dangled from strings, through which he make it march. It was whilst gleefully playing his toys that Belmont suddenly heard his parents scream, as they entered the morgue and saw streams of bright green light streaming into two cadavers. The corpses were now dangling in the air as if from invisible strings, just like the puppet in Belmonts hand. The magic ended as soon as Belmont saw was was occurring but by this point, his parents had already realised what had happened.. They shipped him of to be raised in a monastery of the goddess Arcana that was in The Citadel in order to distance themselves from having sorcerous blood within the family in the hopes he would eventually learn to repress or control his powers.
This, however, was not the case. Though the preachers of the monastery tried to train Belmont to be a cleric, the stubborn child refused to beg the gods to offer him a portion of their power to do his will, instead he tried to get his strange powers to obey his will and his alone. Why should it be through a god's power to decide who lives and who dies? he thought, promising to himself once he left the monastery that he would go to the Magisterium and he would not leave until he was accepted into the school of necromancy.
25 years later Belmont has become one of the foremost accademics in the field of necromancy, living a comfortable life at the university. Through functions held at the university, Belmont has made various contacts that help him in his study, perhaps the most helpful being the head of the undertakers guild, happy to provide fresh cadavers to use for his research. He also has an agreement with The Citadel's prisons whereby they send the bodies of freshly
executed prisoners for him to carry out his more invasive experiments on. Though many who know about these experiments consider them distasteful, Belmont knows that through his research he will be able to break down the veil between life and death in order to create a better world without having to beg the gods to heal the sick or return the deceased from the other side.Personality Characteristics
