4/27/21 Session 13 - "Blight"
Adrid continues his tour of the Abbey with the Abbot. He's brought into the main hall where he sees what appears to be a clone of Ireena standing at the end of a table. Trying to hold his composure, he asks the Abbot who this is, he responds that her name is Vasilka, and that the Wedding Dress he needs is for her. Adrid also notices a Gold Disk over the fireplace bearing the crest of the god Lathander. They continue on from this room upstairs where music seems to be coming from.
In this room Adrid is introduced to "Cloven", a 2 headed man with a Crab claw, one head appears to be that of an infant. As well, wine bottles seem to be strewn about and Cloven looks to be very drunk. The music he is playing isn't great. As they continue, the Abbot explains that he was called to this land by Lathander and does what he can for the people to heal them. He has very few resources and does most of his healing by grafting animal parts to the people to give them working limbs. While their bodies seem to be functional, he can’t seem to heal their mental issues. The abbot continues his your past where the guest quarters is and makes note that there is another guest here that they may encounter if they chose to stay.
They venture down another set of stairs and come to a long hallway full of what look like makeshift cells full of starved individuals who have been grafted with animal parts. They seem to be in a frenzy seeing someone they're not familiar with. In the hall is a very large "Man" who looks very cobbled together as well.
After the tour Adrid politely declines the Abbots offer to stay the night and the party reconvenes outside the abbey to discuss what was seen. They decide to leave and head back to town to fill in Fredriech Carlston of their findings and determine their next move. After discussing their options, they speak with Dmitri Krezkov about his wine delivery. He seems appreciative of the idea of the party paying a visit to the Wizards of Wine Winery to find out what happened.
Before they make their way South to the winery, the party gathers at the blessed pond to the North of town to investigate and make Gazebo jokes. They fill their flasks and water skins full of fresh water from the pool and take their leave to visit the Wizards of Wine Winery. They make their way there, on the way finding an overturned cart full of broken wine barrels and drag marks of people pulled into the forest by wolves. The part takes note and continues toward the winery. As they approach a man steps out of the brush and asks them what they are doing, the party explains they are on their way to investigate what happened with the wine shipment to Kresk. The old man introduces himself as Davian, the owner of the winery. Davian explains that the winery has been taken by some sort of blight and that he and his family have been driven from his land into the woods here several days ago. The party offers to try to help, Davian thinks it'll be a challenge to help, but the party presses forward.
After arriving at the winery, several plant men made of thistle and branches being to approach. The party dispatches some of them but not long after the fight begins the plant men multiply and a very large number of them begin to make their way toward the party. Sensing that they are outmatched our adventurers retreat to Davian and his family. They have a conversation and Davian gives them some information regarding what he thinks is happening. At one point there were some strong magical wards placed to protect the winery from blights such as this. These were seeds placed by the keeper of the feather, pinecone sized gems with magical power. He knows that one is in Berez and another in Yester Hill, but not where a 3rd is. Until the seeds are replaced he thinks the blight will continue. After another exchange and some talk of ravens in Vallaki, the party learns that Davian is Irwin's father. They are however not on speaking terms. Seeing that they may be helpful allies, Davian offers them a token of Ravehead which will help the party show their loyalty to certain ravens or other folks they suspect are also keepers of Ravenhead. The party heads back to Kresk.
Upon arriving they explain the situation regarding the wine and form a plan to find out more information from the Abbot. Some of the party will stay in the town while others will head back to the Abbey to spend the night in the company of the Abbot and learn more about what is happening there.
