Mass Printing Press

A mass printing press is a device for apply pressure to an inked surface resting on a print medium, transferring ink. This process dramatically reduces the time and effort to reproduce print media, and allowed for books and newspapers to become widely available in the Isles of Edren , which led to the vast majority of the citizens to be literate.   The first printing press was made by Fenkasys Carwyse in 162. Carwyse was initially looking for a way to better distribute her cooking book 'Tiny Meals with Big Taste'. Instead of having to write the book over and over again, or hiring that out, she came up with the idea when some dough had transferred some inked out works onto itself, and extrapolated the idea to paper. Her book went on to be a wild success, not only for its tasty food, but also due to its wide availability. The Tiny Meal series is still an important staple in the cooking world.   Printing presses have undergone a variety of changes and improvements over the last millenia, making them more robust, faster, and even able to do photo replication. However, maybe due to their medium, or their process, or something more complex; mass printing presses are incapable of transferring arcane energy. For this reason, spellbooks, tomes, and grimoires must be hand wrote to maintain their magical energy.   This invention sparked a variety of businesses, most noteably, the newspaper industry, with the longest running paper being The Edren Editorial based in The Capital .
