FB05: The Kitchen
The monastery kitchen is easily identified by the presence of a stone stove and the existence of several cookware pots, some intact on a set of wooden shelves and others broken, scattered across the floor.
The kitchen's exterior door has been knocked off its hinges, torn down to expose the room to the environment outside. As such, much of the floor is covered in sand, with mounds of it gathering in crevices and corners. The other door, an interior door, has been barricaded by a table. Apparently someone did not want whatever was inside the Monastery getting into the kitchen.
This kitchen has seen more than its share of action. It was originally barricaded by one of the monks who fled from the rest when they started losing their minds and insisting upon ritual suicide. He barricaded himself in the kitchen, then fled across the desert once he was sure he could get away. This escaped monk is the only reason rumors of the existence of the oasis and monastery exist.
Some time later, several unfortunate explorers came upon the oasis -- and the scorpions. They attempted to hide in the kitchen, but one of the scorpions bashed through the door and dragged them to their doom. A DC 10 Investigation skill check will note the existence of large claw marks on the destroyed door, the walls near it, and the floor.
The ceramic cookware in the kitchen is of mediocre quality and has no appreciable value.
