The Depths | World Anvil - Isekai Codex

Isekai has started its grand restructuring! Please bear with us as things move around and get situated in their new home.
Names are also in the process of changing, so some names are inconsistent currently.

The Depths

Realm of Caspian

All who enter here must respect the oceans and their creatures. For if one does not, one may find themselves lost to the Depths, drowned in the waters they so doubted.
— Inscription Above the Door of the Water Temple in the Southern Library
The oceans of deepest blue lap quietly along a simple shoreline, only shells decorating the pristine line of white sand. Waves capped with white foam stretch as far as the eye can see, an endless swath of cerulean and seafoam dotting the landscape. It is here the God of the Sea resides, his palace buried beneath the deep waters where only the welcome can find.   The Depths is one of the many endless Celestial Realms, serving as home to all manner of creatures that call the waters of Isekai home. Here, these creatures are free from the realities of death and short lifespans, instead, they are allowed to swim as much and as far as they wish and to speak with Caspian when he goes on his daily swim.

Localized Phenomena

It is said that the Abyss Ocean is the deepest ocean of the world, seemingly reaching endlessly into the depths of the world but the only true endless ocean is that of the Depths. An infinite world of water and its creatures, Caspian's realm is meant to serve as the perfect home of all sea life in Isekai.   Those that enter the Depths, no matter their race, will find that they have the gills and fins to survive in the water and to safely enter the Temple of the Sea. With the magic of this place, people are transformed so that all are equal in the water, even if their lives were spent on land.

Climate

In the Depths
Most of the Depths is impossibly deep ocean where all creatures of the water in Isekai can be found. It is said that those that attempt to enter the realm of Caspian without the god's permission may be drowned in the deep water.
The Depths can be classified as a warm salt water ocean with millions of flora and fauna that call the waters home. All manners of creatures and plants, no matter their normal habitat in Isekai, can survive and thrive within these conditions as Caspian has declared it so.   Temperature and salinity can be changed by the god's whim, changing to fit his mood and where he may wish to swim that day. It has even been said that the darkest depths of these waters have been inverted with the surface so that Caspian could reach them easier to converse with the monsters that once hid in the darkest of waters.   Notations in the repository of the Sphinxes have noted that on occasion, Caspian has chosen to freeze the oceans or cause the water to boil to reflect his temper and disdain for the decisions of the gods. Those mortals that have entered the Depths without explicit permission may experience such changes, but more commonly Caspian has been known to drown those in the deepest depths of his ocean.
Temple of the Sea
Known as the Temple of the Sea, the only structure in the Depths serves as Caspian's palace as well as the location of the gateway between this realm and the Southern Library.   Decorated in rich stones such as prismarine and sapphires, this temple is befitting of the God of the Sea.
