Cobalt Dragonkin

Descendants of Cobalt Dragons

Students file into a classroom, taking their seats and waiting to see what awaits them in their new course. Expectations of heavy tomes and Elven and Dwarvish professors fill their heads, but when the hour tolls, a woman of glittering scales walks in, glasses perched on her snout, arms full of scrolls. While the students expected to be greeted by one of their own here at the Unending Scroll, they are met instead with a Dragonkin, her knowledge just as great as anyone else at the academy.   Cobalt Dragonkin are the descendants of one of the Elder Races and a Cobalt Dragon. They have inquisitive minds and are built to survive the long winters of the coldest places in the world, but they often choose to live where academies are, utilizing their knowledge and talents as teachers and Scholars. It is not uncommon to see them teaching a variety of classes in the greatest academies of the world, magical or otherwise.   Above all else, these people believe in service. The Council of Metallic Dragons has proven that they can make a difference, no matter how small, no matter where. Metallic Dragonkin follow in the footsteps of their ancestors, each in different ways. Cobalt Dragonkin study and teach, serving in professions where their knowledge can be shared with all. Much like the Pachyderms and Elves of the world, these people find their purpose in teaching and broadening their horizons.

Basic Information

Cobalt Dragonkin share some specific traits with their Draconic ancestors that prove their ties to the Cobalt Dragons. Their facial features are softer than other Dragonkin, with a jawline that comes to a point, much like a beard. A crest on their head, fin-like ears, and large muscular bodies are also common in Cobalt Dragonkin.   All Dragonkin inherit sharp claws, extremely strong and protective scales, as well as a breath weapon that they can use. Some of these traits are affected by the color of the Dragonkin as the many varieties of Dragons also vary greatly in their abilities. Cobalt Dragonkin often have a resistance to lightning and thunder while their breath weapon creates a wave of electricity that can stun or incapacitate enemies.   Common Colorations

Common Colorations

While their coloration is in their name, Cobalt Dragonkin can still come in a variety of shades, matching the shades found in the scales of Cobalt Dragons. Their scales can range from a lighter cobalt color to a darker cobalt, but their range of color is not as large as the Chromatic Dragonkin. The color of their eyes has a much smaller range, often only being yellow, brown, red, green, grey, or purple.

Social Structure

Metallic Dragonkin are considered the more social of the two groups of Dragonkin, although this is greatly influenced by the stigmas that surround certain colors of scales. Cobalt Dragonkin are inquisitive, often traveling and living in different places throughout the world to fulfill their curiosity. They easily join other societies and integrate themselves fully into the cultures and languages that these societies are built upon. It is also common to find these people in the colder areas of the world where few people are equipped to handle the temperatures.   It is possible to find Cobalt Dragonkin in almost any society in the world, often those that put an emphasis on knowledge and education. People like the Dwarves, Elves, and Pachyderms that place respect knowledge and its pursuit welcome these people as Scholars and teachers, enhancing the education their academies can provide by creating diversity in their teaching pool.

Cobalt dragonkin have a similar disposition to a group of people I once knew and lived among. They too were scholars gathering and sharing knowledge. I think I've met quite a few scholars in my travels. I wonder how fortune has been treated them? Better than me I would earnestly hope. - Nemo, World Traveler
