The beat of a drum signals the start of another race, the seventh today alone. Boots crunch as they hit the track, a constant patter as ten Dragonkin
attempt to outrun each other. Although there is a finish line, they all know that this isn't simply a test of speed, but the race will continue past the finish line to be one of endurance. As the finish line is crossed, those not with blue scales drop to the ground, taking a moment to recover while the Blue Dragonkin continue their endeavor, running until the sunset signals the end of their race.
Blue Dragonkin are the descendants of one of the Elder Races
and a Blue Dragon
. The ferocity with which these people train and expand their endurance can only come from the ferocious Blue Dragons
that are known for their fight and strength. Endurance is a coveted trait among the Blue Dragonkin, causing them to spend their days training so that maybe, one day, their endurance will be called upon in aid of their homeland.
Above all else, these people respect endurance and the pursuit of strength of all kinds. This is their purpose, using their abilities and drive for whatever is necessary for the greatness of their communities. In many ways, the Blue Dragonkin are much like the Dwarves
, working long hours in pursuit of greatness, but for the Blue Dragonkin, competition seems to trump all else. The ego of Chromatic Dragons
stymies their purpose, slowly their great pursuit.
Blue Dragonkin share some specific traits with their Draconic
ancestors that prove their ties to the Blue Dragons
. Their facial features are often sharp, defined on the jawline by a series of small spikes and an intricate crown of horns on their head. Whiskers from their snout and a ridged tail as well as extremely muscular bodies are also common in Blue Dragonkin.
inherit sharp claws, extremely strong and protective scales, as well as a breath weapon that they can use. Some of these traits are affected by the color of the Dragonkin
as the many varieties of Dragons
also vary greatly in their abilities. Blue Dragonkin often have a resistance to the arid conditions of a desert while their breath weapon can create extreme gusts of wind that are reminiscent of a sand storm. Blue Dragonkin are known for being able to use their breath weapon for the longest amount of time.
While their coloration is in their name, Blue Dragonkin can still come in a variety of shades of blue, matching the shades found in the scales of Blue Dragons
. Their scales can range from a sky blue color to a deep navy blue. The color of their eyes has a much smaller range, often only being yellow, brown, red, green, grey, or purple.
Blue Dragonkin may enjoy a solitary life, often living only with others of their color, but they also enjoy mingling with those Chromatic Dragonkin
that enjoy competition as much as they do. Since endurance and strength are of great importance to them, training and competition are a way of life that they see as best enjoyed when shared with others of a similar mindset. It is not uncommon to see Blue Dragonkin in mixed villages with Red
and sometimes Yellow Dragonkin
Small tribal villages of only a handful of people are uncommon amongst Blue Dragonkin. They prefer small "cities" which are often villages of different colors of Dragonkin
grouped together with a communal space accessible from all of the villages. This allows for colors to have their own spaces while also enjoying the camaraderie that can be found in places like the Fearsome Maw
