Nanotech
Nanotech is heavily employed, mostly in medicine, but also in small scale manufacture. Many people have nanobots coursing through their veins, fixing them before they need fixing.
However, when most people say nanotech, they are not directly talking about machines on the scale of 999 nm - 1 nm. They are talking about the slew of machines, smaller than a mm, that act to make life easier, make material science incredibly complex, and build nearly everything in their lives.
The most common kind of nanotech is actually barely nanotech. The smallest medical nanites that are in most people are actually around 4 microns long and 1.3 micron tall and wide. Their internal components are obviously nearly all less than a cubic micron in size (All but the fuel supply, which in most models is 0.9 - 1.2 cubic microns). While a couple of models do release subunits which are nanotechnological, even a few which would technically be categorized as picotechnology (tiny artificial "antibodies" can get down to around 800 pm in the longest dimension), but objects on the order of 10-100 nm is more common.
However, those are the absolute smallest. The majority of the nanites inside humans are on the order of 20-30 microns long, and around 5-10 microns in other dimensions, and a couple are even larger. The largest ones are the factory modules, replacing some of the simpler ones are actually gigantic on this scale. The primary factory is a whole 0.8 mm long, 0.3 mm wide and 0.2 mm tall.

Utility
Medical, as well as maintenance and manufacture of small scale items. While there were a few military and terrorist uses, it was quickly stopped with high or low temperatures which essentially kill nanotech.
Many materials are created, at least in part, by nanotech. As examples, 3D-circuitry of most kinds, high explosives like C-213, linear polarized metals, single crystal titanium alloys and many others.
Manufacturing
It can be manufactured by specialized highly dense and complex machinery. That is the real cost of nanotech. Can be found on many large military ships and in most settlements
