The Rift
A deep and sudden tear across the land, the canyon know simply as "The Rift" seems to have been formed by the crust of the earth being ripped apart. Some say it's simply a natural phenomenon. Others say it is as chasm opened up by a demonic force. There are no reliable reports of anyone traveling into its depths. The few dwarfs who regularly travel past it to a mithril mine far to the north make a point to travel past in haste.
Geography
The hard and dry desert ground suddenly drops down a 1,000 ft at least. The sides are shear rock. It is said at spots you can see where a great fire as left scorch marks on the walls of the chasm. If there is a way down into the canyon, I have not heard news of it.
