Terezinho Geographic Location in Iron Stars | World Anvil

Terezinho

Governor: Seung Whittaker   The world is entirely or almost entirely covered with liquid water. Habitations might be floating cities, or might cling precariously to the few rocky atolls jutting up from the waves, or are planted as bubbles on promontories deep beneath the stormy surface. Survival depends on aquaculture. Planets with inedible alien life rely on gengineered Terran sea crops.   The Tenebrean Empire retained its control over this world for much longer than usual, and the world may still consider itself a true inheritor of Imperial legitimacy. Most of these worlds have or had superior technology, but they may still labor under the burden of ancient restrictive tech or monitoring systems designed to prevent them from rebelling.   Terezinho has since been freed from Remnant control, and the human/merfolk communities here are warming up to the idea of joining with the UNW. Rebuilding efforts are currently underway in New Astria.   Before humans, the Slyth also had a presence on this world, and several ancient sites are present.     Terezinho is also home of the Merlons.   The Merfolk-for lack of a better term- of Terezinho were once original settlers, gene altered to better withstand the conditions of the mostly submerged paradise world. At home on the land, and in water, Merfolk are none the less excellent swimmers, and capable of indefinite breathing in either medium. About as physical as a human, they have a lifespan of about 80 healthy years of life.   Terezinho is a world run by mayors, and run by deals between city states. War is seen as the abosolute last resort, and aside from some skirmishes, the planet has never actually had any kind of a civil conflict. The endless debating and rich law tradition has gifted each merfolk with a remarkable degree of charisma- discourse seen as as essential to life as food or oxygen.     Terezinho also has several cultural sites of note   The House of Life and Death- First discovered by Seung Whittaker, the House of Life and Death is a temple to Cadeuceia, and Cankerous, the twin Slyth gods of life and death. The twins were seen by the Slyth as two sides of the same coin, and the sick were brought to their temples by the faithful in the hopes of either a swift recovery, or a merciful relief from pain.   Small sacrifices were often offered to the gods, those with nothing still giving a small measure of their own lifeblood to speed along their prayers.   Interacting with a golden altar idol inside the temple caused some kind of magical release, in addition to it rising from the depths of the planet's oceans. It now sits on an island only slightly bigger than the structure itself.     Eastern Amphitheater -   This site is less impressive than the temple, but none the less culturally important. It appears this site was once used by early human inhabitants of the world, a program for Miss New Saigon was found among the well preserved datapads and books. Most of the cultural wealth here remains at the site, not yet excavated or recovered by explorers. Such finds would benefit not just Terezinho itself, but the post-scream galaxy, as a powerful cultural force.
