Shaila was once a lush world.; it is not anymore.   Brought to ruin during the scream when the psychic academy lost control, the world was burned to ash save for the northern region behind the mountains. Firestorms dozens of kilometers wide still ravage the surface in waves the locals call 'Fire Tides'. These storms have no origin, brewing over the desert sands seemingly at random as the lingering MES energies plague the planet.   Dwellings inevitably fall within the path of these Fire Tides, and the only way to escape these sudden and fast moving storms is to move constantly. Those fortunate enough to survive the burning of Shaila live on flotillas of fast moving hovercraft, crisscrossing the desert in search of water, salvage, and the materials needed to continue moving.   There are rumors of the psychic academy and other high tech facilities buried beneath the desert sands, but as time goes on, these appear to be nothing more than exactly that: rumors.   In Feburary 2668, Agent Finius of the Greystar Confederacy was able to finally make it into an abandoned pre-tech bunker called G7 by the locals. Inside, he was able to recover rare stimulants that had fallen out of production since the time of The Scream- though it was also discovered that the bunker's internal power reactor was damaged by the earthquakes and raging fires native to Shaila.   The reactor detonated as the stimms were stowed aboard Greystar ships, sending clouds of radioactive fallout high into the air. Although none were hurt, the rolling fallout clouds have replaced the firestorms- and the clans are once again nomadic.   A terraforming project has begun on this world to repair the environmental damage, and slowly, the desert is beginning to show its first signs of green.   In late 2669 attempts were further made to try to organize the clans here into a true social order, though the former raiding clans do not seem to have yet found a place in the developing civilization on this world.
