Wanderer Origin
Child of the World
Not every character of significance can claim ties to Iroa's major poleis. For whatever reason, you do not have a home of any significance to claim you - not even among the Apodimos, or at least not as of yet.
Perhaps the Kervelos war erased your entire village, or perhaps your parents were itinerant wanderers and merchant-charlatans. Maybe you came from distant Vandelay across the western oceans as a child and can't get back, or grew up a slave traded from one hand and home to the next, crossing great distances thus far in your life. Are you actually an outright exile from one of the poleis, or did you used to sail with the Apodimos but struck out to find your own path unencumbered by the reputation that precedes them? You could evenly be from one of the many small villages dotted in the wilderness between the great poleis and as yet to be claimed by any of them, having suffered no calamity at all yet having set out out of either wanderlust, or a determination to make a more exciting and impactful life for yourself.
Whatever the reason, the rootless life of a wanderer is that with which you are most familiar. Give some extra thought to the circumstances that led to you being chosen for the Tykos colony project. You would have had to be in the right place at the right time, and surely must have impressed someone of importance. However you accomplished this feat, the somewhat more settled life of a colonist - however adventurous, with the journeys still yet to come with that role - may well prove a big adjustment for you.
Wanderer PCs
- Adaptable by Necessity: You are adaptable, and gain any one bonus skill, any one weapon group proficiency (e.g., bows or light blades), and any one language, tool, game, instrument, or vehicle proficiency. If you have proficiency in all martial weapons, than the weapon group chosen gets +1 to attack rolls. You can retrain any or all of these bonuses after you spend an extended rest (one week of downtime) in a different location than the last time you gained or retrained these bonuses.
