Elaionas
Gateway to the Plains
Elaionas is a rustic polis nestled in a vale at the north edge of Chrysolos, the Gap of Hyperion, in the southernmost embrace of the northern Hyperenees mountain range. It has earned a reputation as the ranching capital of the Ithean world, and roughly half of the small polis's area is dedicated to stockyards and other facilities and businesses to service the local ranching industry, with many of the ranches themselves being as big as Elaionas itself. It is also the chief point of contact between bipedal races and Thaurian kind, which when they find their way elsewhere in the Thousand Kingdoms do so via Elaionas more often than any other polis.
Boundless and bountiful plains spreading in directions east, west and south are the hallmark of Elaionas. While far from both the Pyrmar and Aspros seas, a network of mighty rivers eventually drains from the north Hyperenees into the Pyrmar to the west. A corresponding spread drains from the south Hyperenees into the Aspros to the east. These many rivers are the lifeblood of Elaionas even more than the great plains, allowing trade and the export of the legendary supple leather, cured meats, and fine flour produced in this realm.
As it is situated on the Makrys peninsula, Pelekys claims to own and control Elaionas, but the Kervelos war of the last few years drew Pelekyte attention away before they could put this claim to the test. Elaionas is confident that the rugged terrain in between the two poleis, as well as the many ancient and mythical great beasts of Chrysolos, will deter any serious attempt at invasion from the warriors of the south.
