A world divided by great and powerful nations. The aftermath of a long and bloody war between the nations of Kinilan and Chelestra The war left the Iron Hills, a rough, rolling border region rich with valuable ores, largely uninhabited as civilian populations fled the ongoing wars and mines were fought over and sabotaged. In this world, such places breed monsters. Magic is a force wild and mysterious. Left to its own devices, it sweeps across the land, bringing madness and chaos. As these waves pass over, the dead rise. Ordinary creatures are twisted into horrid mockeries of themselves. Sometimes, even creatures from other planes cross through to prey on the denizens of this one. In more civilized lands, devices called "anchors" are used to stabilize magic, but the anchor of Rethis was destroyed in the war, leaving the Iron Hills to face the consequences.
