Reavers
A group of raiders and pirates from the Dark Elf fleets of Ravan, they specalize in taking their captives alive.
Composition
Manpower
Reavers operate in a number of different formations from massive fleets to small raiding parties consisting of no more than a few quick scout ships.
Equipment
Reaver ships often have specalized harpoon balista with Adamantine, Mithral, or Steel Chains. depending on the Reaver ship class these chains either tether the ships together, or are attatched to a secondary anchor.
Weaponry
Reavers have a number of weaponry at their disposal, most famously Cutlass' Falchions and Druchaia Spears.
Vehicles
Reavers operate nearly exclusivly as a naval unit, operating from large warships to quick elven mistriders.
Structure
Operating as a Pirate and Raider fleet, each individual Ship operates under a command structure where a captain controls a number of lower ranking Reavers, when larger numbers of Reavers join forces, it is rare for a single Reaver Captain to be placed in charge unless they already outrank the others, instead simply agreeing to share the spoils and deal with the infightign that's sure to follow afterwards.
Tactics
Reavers use their specalized Harpoon Balista to slow down enemy ships and allow for boarding actions, in order to claim as many slaves as possible. They then board the victims ship with weapons coated in Sleeping Venom to capture as many alive as possible.the ship is raided of as many goods as the Reavers care to collect at the time though their priroity is slaves. those that are slain are mutilated and nailed to the ship which is then set adrift for others to find.
Training
Low ranking Reavers are often fresh from Dark Elf acadamies, as it is used to test a Dark Elves readiness for battle. some choose to remain as Reavers to gain a semblence of freedom, while others return to their noble houses with slaves in tow.
Logistics
Logistical Support
Reavers have floating shipyards built into glaciers, using mystrium to empower their spells the Dark Elves use these mobile shipyards as small cities to keep their many ships supplies. during raids on costal cities, these Glacial cities will be slowly moved into formation to provide direct support as a bombardment begins in earnest.
Upkeep
Reavers are privateers, most belonging to single powerful Dark Elves rather than being woned directly by a Noble House. these Houses pay good mony for Reaver slaves and use of their fleets.
Recruitment
Reavers recieve fresh recruits from Dark Elf acadamies and Noble Houses to test unblooded warriors in the field, and allow Noble Houses a bid for the slaves aquired in raids.
History
The Reavers came to be infamous along the Northern seas of Krogar and Ravan, as Dark Elf pirates raided many an unwarry ship claiming all the valuables aboard and taking the living as slaves. it's not unheard of for smaller coastal cities in the north to be harried by Dark Elf raiders or obliterated entirely if a Glacial City is brought to bear to enslave the populace in general. when the Ward was re-settled the Reavers encountered their first challenge since their creation and a game if cat and mouse began that rages until this very day, as the Reavers speed and superior numbers frusterate the Wards attempts to safeguard Northern Krogar.
Historical loyalties
Reavers tend to be selfish even by Dark Elf standards, givin the right prive Reavers can be convinced to betray their previous employer in hopes of loftier gains.
