Mythnara Settlement in Irindor | World Anvil

Mythnara

The Elven city housed within the roots of Umeren the Soultree.

Demographics

Before The Fall of Unity, Mythnara was exclusively an elven city with rare exceptions. before Long Night it was said fewer than ten non-elves had stepped foot within Mythnara.

Government

Mythnara was the seat of the High Elves before Unity's Fall, where the noble houses with a direct bloodline to Umeran would rule. following Unity's Fall and the exile of the Dark Elves the city become more a religious beacon than a center of government.

Infrastructure

Mythnara had a series of complex tunnels and roots along the roots of Umeren into the surrounding mountain range and to the sea beyond. in the lowlands near the base of the mountains food grew aplenty, dense with wildlife for the hunter gatherers of ancient Sya'Nau

Districts

At the heart of Mythnara lay the Palace Ao Tirion, a grand expanse of weaved stones and earth to serve as the High Elves seat of power, after the Fall of Unity Ao Tirion was converted to a grand story-hall where murals were gathered. eventually Ao Tirion would come to house a great number of scrolls and tomes from the outside world.  A'el Anor where many religious ceremonies would be held, and the dead interred, the great houses would gather here in unity to reconnect to Umeren and the spirit of their kin on special occasions. A'el Anor was a grand cavern where Umeren the Soul Tree pierced the nearby mountain range, splitting the great stones and creating a trench that would be converted to an amphitheater.   Yal Isari, the warrior monastery, barracks, and ancient home to the Dark Elves before their exile. after the fall of Unity Yal Isari would be sealed off and used as a reliquary for forbidden knowledge. Yal Isari was a series of burrows throughout Mythnara, interconnected tunnels to act as defensive networks and quick dispatch for defense of the realm should the need arise.

History

As with all Elven history, much is steeped in legends. with no written history of their own, the oral tradition of the Elves means much of their ancient history cannot be verified without sources from other kingdoms of the time such as Throne of Khoven. Elven Legends speak of a need to defend Umeren from the greed of the Dwarves as they began to harvest lumber for their forges, before they had mastered their elemental summoning. this led to a series of burrow states throughout ancient Sya'Nau, and eventually Umeren itself. the High Elves forged the highest peaks near as a palace to govern all that was seen, the Wood elves tended to the lowlands as farmers, gathers, and a spiritual connection. while the Dark Elves burrowed deep caverns to allow their warriors to ambush any who invaded the forests. the bastion of Mythnara would remain impeneterable until the Unity broke, and the Dark Elves exiled for their heresies. following this the remaining Wood Elves and High Elves were challenged by Dwarves, Orcs, and Humans who encroached upon their sacred forests. with no warrior caste to defend themselves properly, the need for diplomacy became paramount, and the first peace brokered between Humans, and eventually Dwarfkin as they rallied to fight Orcs Giants and Dragons.

Architecture

what architecture remains of the Unity remains nestled in the roots of Umeren or berried in the stones and earth of the land. having been woven from the land by Druids they withstood the test of time with remarkable ease, still sturdy as the mountains or the roots that many were created with.

Geography

Mythnara has always existed under the roots of Umeren, extending through to the mountains nearby and the lowlands by the river just before breaking from the oceans. a dense forest acts as a natural defense against intruders and home to many animals and Elfkin.
