Mistmire Citadel
The former prison of Niko Von Krohl, Mistmire Citadel serves as the capital of the budding Iron Empire.
Purpose / Function
Mistmire began as a mining shaft of the Dwarves, before the horrors of Antaus drove them away. For decades Mistmire was abandoned before the forces at Brierwell deemed it a worthy investment and hired masons, miners, and mercenaries to refurbash the mining shaft. managing to repurpose some of the abandoned Dwarven mining equipment, a steady stream of Mystrium was oppened to Brierwell. over time, Brierwells occupants would exile unwanted civilians, political enemies, and bandits to the Citidel to serve as slave labor for the mines.
Alterations
Brierwell mercenaries refurbashed much of the abandoned Dwarvewn archetecture and machinery, many of them barely working and dangerous contraptions without the Dwarves and Gnomes to repair them.
Architecture
The original infrastructure is of Argantian design, hewn from rough stone from the surrounding area, and imported Dwarven deepstone for stability and protection. much of the surrounding area of Mistmire was cleared of trees for construction and fuel for forges. Mistmire appears as a small hill with a heavily fortified keep build from the peak of the rise, making standard seige warfare near impossible. Four large towers sprout from the base of the keep offering a vantage point across a spanse of rocky terrain bereft of life, though one of these towers has fallen to ruin, and lays scattered across the damage section of the walls, and down the side of the clif. many of the damaged portions of the Citadel have been patched with machinery and scrap metal from destroyed equipment.
History
Following the abandonment of the original Mistmire mine by the Dwarves, Brierwell used its considerable wealth to refurbash the mining citadel into their own purposes, eventually leading it to become a makeshift prison. For generations the Citadel was used to both quiet Brierwells enemies and to make the occupants rich on the Mystrium mined there, Until recently when Niko Von Krohl siezed control of the Citadel following a series of riots with the other prisoners, It now serves as the Capital of Baron Krohl's supposed Iron Empire. Baron Krohl now vents lethal Mystrium Gas into the surrounding area creating a toxic blanket to protect his Citadel while he gathers strength, using a Mutant population immune to the effects to spread his influence.
