Even so, a single word was all it took to seal his fate. Sent to distant Mistmire Citadel to eliminate a supposed conspiracy against his lords, Krohl realized too late the mission was a trap. Surrounded by agents of warlords he had inspired fear in for so many years , Krohl was dragged down into the Mystrium mines beneath Mistmire Citadel. He was defeated. He was enslaved. He was not worthy after all. He endured the mine’s hellish conditions in grim silence, waiting for death.   The mine’s warden, Baron Anya , would sometimes offer freedom in return for a prisoner’s tortured confession—granting it with the edge of her blade. From the screams that echoed through the tunnels, Krohl learned about the wonders of Mistmire. There was something special about the Citadel, something marvelous and evident even in the secrets that spilled from slit throats. Krohl didn’t know what it was until he was finally brought before Anya, fearing that she would break him.   But as the baron’s blade cut into his flesh, Krohl realized that his body was already wracked with agony, far beyond anything Anya could inflict. The Pit had made him stronger than he’d ever been as a headsman.   Pain was Mistmire's secret. His laughter drove Anya back to the surface, and a reign of anarchy began in the depths.   Seizing control of the prison, Krohl reveled in new trials of survival. He found the parts of his body that were weakest, and replaced them with scavenged machinery, technology created by those who would die without it—necessity being the mother of pain.   Section by Section Krohl worked his way up towards the surface, breaking those unworthy to survive in this new world, in his new world. upon reaching the surface, most of the Guard had broken line and fled in fear for their lives, risking the noxious fumes of the wasteland and the nameless Horrors in the mountain than face this Dreadnought. Only Anya remained, with her Honor Guard in the Citadels uppermost spire. Krohl broke through the defenses easily his Mutilated form breaking her Honor Guard easily. as the Baroness begged for her life Krohl felt disgust and rage take hold and he beat her mercilessly, and tossing her broken body from the tower. claiming Mistmire Citadel for his own, Baron Krohl now expands his reach further and further into Antaeus.
