Cthonicos

The Gray, once home to the Dredalus before their extinction in the Dawn War.

Geography

Cthonicos, also known as the Gray Waste, was the plane of neutral evil, home of the Dredalus before their obliteration in the Dawn War. Cthonicos was a tomb world, the wastes in which the Firstborn housed their cast offs. the landscape of Cthonicos is formed from the petrified remains of the Dredalus, the only other structures among the mountain of dead are the three forts Tharyzdon and Asmodeus constructed. since the fall of Asmodeus and death of Tharyzdon the three forts have since been under occupation of many rulers, notably Komia of the Ascendant and Iribus the Faceless God. for a time Amnul called Cthonicos home after his empire fell to ruin. outside the Dread Forts an endless war rages between Fiend and Demon soaking the grey with ichor and blood. Souls fall like rain into this hellscape as Loken condemns selfish evil souls to this pit to waste away and become one with the lands or twisted by the influence of Law or Chaos from the Endless War.

Localized Phenomena

Pools of Black Blood have tainted and created oasis of corruption in the Grey. here lesser Demonkin have spawned frequently. One of the Dread Forts has long since been converted into the Prime Temple for the Temple of Nine, here a series of portals are opened to Baathos or the Material Plane. Since the Long Night Komia of the Ascendant has Plane-Shifted her own fortress into the Grey to train her desciples and barter influence between the forces of Hell and the Abyss, and even the Shadow on occasion.

Fauna & Flora

Lost Souls sometimes 'grow' into malformed trees bearing fruit that begs for death. this corpsefruit is coveted highly by Demons, Fiends, and Hags of the Material Planes.
