Rhu

Overview

Rhu, the forgotten member of the Guardians of the North, is a female warlock hailing from the city of Hogsfeet. Born as an only child, Rhu spent much of her childhood in solitude, as her mother, a lawyer in Fan'dori, was rarely home. Her upbringing fell to her father, who trained her in the art of fencing and swordsmanship, fostering a love for combat that shaped her early years.

At sixteen, her mother, dismayed by Rhu's tomboyish behavior, sent her to a ballet boarding school, hoping to refine her into a more traditional young woman. However, just a week into the school year, Rhu decided to sneak out and leave the school behind. She wandered the realm, eventually finding herself in the city of Fan'dori, where her skills with a sword earned her a place in The Fan'dori Navy. Serving aboard The Lucky Hound, the pride of the fleet, she became particularly close to her commander, Jace O'Niel, a veteran of the navy and an esteemed fighter. Their relationship, however, drew unwanted attention, and rumors suggest that Jace was ordered to end it or risk losing his position. During a fierce storm, Jace allegedly pushed Rhu overboard into the cold, dark sea, later claiming she had lost her balance and fallen.

Though Rhu drowned that night, she was miraculously saved by divine intervention. According to her own account, when she hit the ocean floor, she landed on something metallic but was unable to identify it before losing consciousness. Days later, she awoke on a beach in Raj'tar, alive and inexplicably unharmed. Next to her lay a mysterious hammer, which she believed was connected to her survival. Despite consulting local magic shops, no one could tell her what the hammer was.

In her confusion and despair, Rhu turned to drinking, attempting to drown the pain of her troubled past—the rejection by her mother, the betrayal by the man she loved, and the unanswered questions surrounding her miraculous survival. It was during this time that she joined a group of mercenaries who would go on to achieve legendary status by defeating the red dragon Ashraad and liberating Edaranas. However, after these events, Rhu parted ways with the group, choosing to venture further north in search of clarity and purpose.

Present Day

After leaving the group, Rhu and her companion became lost in the frigid expanse of Whitefrost. When she was eventually found, she was alone—both the mysterious hammer and her enigmatic companion had vanished without a trace. She spent several years searching for them, but her efforts proved fruitless. Now, Rhu has begun her journey south once more, seeking both gold and a renewed sense of purpose.
